1

The Cross

On July 7, 2013, I was able to take 16 new backpacks filled with do-

nated school supplies to Heart House as part of their annual Heartline

School Supply Drive. Donations of crayons, markers, glue, pens, and

various other school supplies were donated by the children who partic-

ipated in EUMC's VBS 2013. Additional monetary donations were

made by the EUMC congregation (with a matching gift from the

EUMC Missions Committee). Total donations are estimated to be

roughly $600. Heartline provides school supplies for over 200 area

students each year.

Many thanks to all who contributed to this Summer 2013 Kids' Mis-

sion Project.

Join us on Sunday, December 15th after the Combined 10:30 AM Worship Service. If you would be willing to help set up (at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 14th), help serve the meal and/or clean up after the meal on Sunday, please sign up on the clip board when it is passed in church.

The “Mission 24” Bowling and Pizza Event scheduled for November 17 was cancelled due to the tornado in Wash-ington. That activity has been rescheduled to Sunday, December 29. Watch for details.

EUMC Newsletter Format Change

beginning January 2014!

The EUMC Newsletter Survey

(October 31 and November 3, 2013) indicates congre-

gational support to change from a mailed newsletter to

use of an on-line EUMC newsletter resulting in a sav-

ings of nearly $1,900 in postage, paper and copying

cost. Results from the 68 surveys received:

41 requested the newsletters be e-mailed

15 plan to view the newsletter at eurekailumc.org

11 requested a paper copy to pick up at the church

1 requested a mailed newsletter

If you were unable to complete the survey and would

like the EUMC Newsletter e-mailed or to make other

arrangements, please call the office at (467-3026).

Senior Adult Fellowship to Attend

Concert at ICC

The Senior Adult Fellowship will attend the Illinois

Central College Philharmonic Chorale Christmas con-

cert on Sunday, December 8th at 3:00 PM. Cost for the

concert is $10.00. We will not be going out for dinner

this time. We will leave the church at 2:00 PM on

Sunday. If you would like to attend, please sign up on

the sheet in the library by Sunday, December 1st.

Advocate Bromenn Medical Center Partners in Healing . . .

Same Day Services at Advocate Bro-Menn Hospital is the focus of our prayers in December. This unit has eight beds for medical and outpatient surgical needs. Medical patients seen on this unit are primarily patients receiving IV infusions, injections and chemotherapy. Surgical pa-tients include all types of outpatient surgery orthopedic surgery, general surgery and gastrointestinal procedures.
