2017 Budget Proposal

Dear Church Family,

First Baptist Church has once again experienced the

blessing of God in 2016. We’ve experienced God’s

working again and again in our congregation. God has

worked through the generous giving of His people to exceed

our goals for this year’s budget.

As we look to the future, now is the time for us to commit

to our 2017 church budget. It reflects a 1.8% increase over

our 2016 budget. You will notice that our budget line items

are arranged to reflect the five purposes of the church:

Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, and

Ministry. This serves as a reminder of our desire to be “A

Purpose Driven Church,” and of our desire “To Know

Christ and To Make Him Known.”

Please take a few moments to prayerfully consider the

proposed budget for 2017. A copy is inserted in this week’s

Clarion. It represents the combined ministry plans of over

40 committees and/or ministries and four full time

ministerial staff. A word of thanks is in order for those forty

some committees and/or ministries for their dedication and

hard work. Another word of thanks goes out to the

Stewardship Committee for their work in compiling the

budget and overseeing the finances of the church throughout

the year – Jody Singleton, Darlene Hicks, Jeffrey McCord,

Terry Scott, Alicia Williams, Andy Mitchell and John

Richburg.

The Stewardship Committee has already presented the

budget to the deacons who now recommend it to the church

body. We will discuss the proposed budget on October 26,

at 6:00 PM at our Quarterly Business Meeting. If there are

no major problems with the budget, a vote for approval will

be taken November 6, during the Morning Worship Service.

The stewardship giving of our church tells a lot about who

we are as disciples. It tells we believe in being a Christian

steward, that we believe in the local church, and that we all

desire to honor God through our giving.

May our light shine so others may see our good works and

glorify our Father who is in heaven.

In Jesus Name,

Jody Singleton Cecil Sanders

Church Family Ministry Opportunity

T he FBC Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Octo-

ber 29 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. This is a wonderful alter-

native to Halloween for our children as well as our commu-

nity. The vision of the Children’s Committee for this event

links to our strategy of CONNECT and COMMISSION.

This ministry connects our multi-generational church to

serve together and connect to one another. The vision also

unites us to reach our Jerusalem (Commission). Halloween

is known for its fascination and lure of death and evil. In

contrast, we will celebrate the life and rewards that come

from our Lord Jesus Christ with the picture from John 15 of

the vine and the branches.

Assistance is needed in the following areas: Provide Can-

dy; Trunk or Treat Host (decorate your trunk and pass out

candy); 5 Teams for Interactive Tents; Entrance Greeters;

Set up / Clean up teams; Prayer Warriors.

There will be a sign-up sheet in your Sunday School Folder

for you to commit to this ministry opportunity.

Thanks!
