Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) wasa bestselling writer, international celebrity andfiercely independent woman, most celebratedin her lifetime as the author of Little LordFauntleroy.

Her novel, The Secret Garden, the tale of alonely, rootless little girl for whom happinessblossoms in a neglected garden, containsmany echoes of the author’s own experiences.

Drawing on Mrs. Burnett’s own writings andthose of her son Vivian (the model forFauntleroy), stage and screen actress RachelLaurence tells the fascinating, magical andsometimes tragic story of a dedicated andromantic writer.

Jane Austen... a woman ahead of her time...defined her era, her sex and her class… Buttake away the men and what remains?

In a bold revisiting using nothing but the wordsof Austen herself, the souls of EmmaWoodhouse, Lizzy Bennet, Mrs Norris, MissBates and many more are brilliantly illuminated.Taken out of context (and in the absence of themen!) these women speak volumes for their sexand their standing constrained by the stringentsocietal code of their time.

Little Leap ForwardWritten and directed by Alison Duddle

Ian Tilton

Little Leap Forward is a storyabout family, about friends, and the need for freedom. It’s Beijing in the summer of1966 and the force of theCultural Revolution isimpacting on every aspect oflife. We see it through theeyes of Guo Yue, an eightyear old school boy whoplays with his friends, runserrands for his family, flieskites, and plays the flute, desperately hoping that thebird he keeps in a cage willaccompany him.

Little Leap Forward is athought-provoking andvisually stunning play aboutfreedom and creativity thathas both charm and universalappeal in equal measure.
