The CanardosThe Canardos are a hostile couple that abducted, raped (in Tony's case), and

murdered (in Amber's case) a number of women.

Amber Canardo Amber Canardo (ne Brooks) is a misoynistic serial killer, abductor, and the

mastermind of a two!person killin team.

Amber was abused by her father and brother for her whole childhood and into

her teenae years. "inally, on #arch $%, &, while she was still fteen, she

manaed to stumble into a Tallahassee hospital, showin sins of hain been

saaely beaten and raped. *hen doctors discerned her father and brother were

the ones responsible, they coninced Amber to o to the police, but when Amber

arried at the station, her mother appeared and told the o+cers that Amber was

lyin about eerythin, includin the rape, and they stopped inestiatin. The

abuse presumably continued, and as a result, Amber was psycholoically,

emotionally, and physically scarred for life, also causin her to become a

misoynistic (due to her mother's nelect and apathy) seual sadist. -n &,

Amber bean abductin and murderin teenae irls in /acksonille, "lorida,

somehow conincin a current boyfriend to aid her. The irls were taken to a

secluded cabin in the woods, and would be tortured by Amber and her partner

(who took turns lmin each other) for weeks, before Amber stranled them to

death. At some point, Amber presumably killed her boyfriend for unknown

reasons, leain the body to rot on the rounds located near the cabin.

The followin year, Amber met Tony Canardo, who became her new partner,

when he was released from prison. The two married, and bean killin irls

toether, recordin the torture and murders. They would then hae Tony's former

cellmate /oey 0ain dispose of the ictims' cars oer state lines1 he would do so

without reali2in what the two were actually doin. *hen the mother of her sith

ictim, Bonnie #ossenber, appeared on teleision, pleadin for her dauhter's

safe return and bein forieness for her abductor, not knowin at the time

Bonnie was dead, an enraed Amber sent a 030 depictin Bonnie bein tortured

and raped to #rs. #ossenber, as if to say 4- don't want, or need, your

forieness4. *hy she was so enraed by #rs. #ossenbur's willinness to

forie her is neer reealed, but it is possible that it may hae been because

the act reminded her of the way her own mother had forien the people whoonce abused her, drawin Amber's aner.

*hen the BA5 is ien a series of 030s by a number of murder ictims'

families, they are appalled that the killer or killers had recorded the murder and

sent the ideos to the ictims' parents. The team is coninced that the unsub is

actually a two!person killin team, and that the dominant one is most denitely

male. #eanwhile, she is seen abductin Ti6any 7pears when she approaches her

for directions. Throuh inestiation, the team nds a link to /oey, but he refuses

to comply and ets himself killed. The BA5 then tracks down /oey's old inmate,

Tony, whom they beliee is the dominant partner. Tony refuses to ie up any

information, so Amber is brouht in to talk to Tony to nd out the location of themissin irl. Tony pretends that the killin team was /oey and himself. As 8eid

and 9ideon watch the tape, they reali2e that Amber looked too calm when in the

room with all the pictures of the murdered women. They also noticed that she

wasn't scared because she looked her husband dead in the eyes while talkin.

:otch suspects that Tony is tryin to protect her, and that Amber is denitely the

mastermind behind the bi2arre killins.

-t was eident by the defensie wounds on the ictims that the killer was notmuch stroner than they were. The ictims appeared to hae manaed to et

away for short periods of time and were recaptured. Amber's oice also appears

in the ideos, and it is eident that she is not afraid of the cameraman. This

leads :otch to deduce that she is the killer. 9ideon manaes to et Tony to

reeal where Ti6any is bein kept (a cabin in the woods), and when the team

arries, they nd Ti6any with her face pressed aainst the window. :otch sees

Amber, who is tossin Ti6any around the room, beatin her as she was once

beaten. The team bursts in, arrestin Amber. 7he states that the "B- has nothin

on her :otch replies that the BA5 has her oice on tape, iin orders to Tony.

7he and Tony hae presumably been incarcerated eer since, althouh it is neerreealed what happened to her abusie family after her arrest.

Profle: :ain been beaten and raped at a youn ae, Amber rew to desire

partner) would abduct youn irls so that Amber could relie her earlier

Tony's mother was a dru addict who ae him up when he was four. 7he later

ot him back when she became clean, but was incarcerated for prostitution when

he was eleen. After that, he bounced around under the care of 7ocial 7erices,

rowin up to become a criminal (eactly what he was conicted of is neer

specied). After bein released from prison in &, Tony met a woman named

Amber Brooks, married her, and became her new submissie partner in the

murders of youn irls (Amber's rst partner had died, possibly by her hand).

physically abused by Tony, to the room to et him to talk. -nside, they

subtetually arue about the murders and the fact that Tony was only part of thelatter ones (Amber had her current boyfriend aid her in the killins before she

met and married Tony). En her instruction, he (falsely) tells about a storae

space to which /oey alleedly brouht the ictims.

*hile :otch and #oran o to the storae space, Amber leaes to nish o6

their last ictim. *hen Flle oes throuh Tony's backround, she is surprised that

he is the dominant. 9ideon and 8eid o throuh ideo footae of Amber talkin

to Tony and the way he watches the crime scene photos. Their suspicions are

conrmed when 9arcia calls, hain separated the audio on one of their torture

ideos, and tells them that Amber can be heard iin Tony instructions and

erbally abusin the ictim. 9ideon confronts Tony, who initially remainsadamant that he and /oey were the killers. :e caes when he learns that the 0GA

eidence proes that Amber had killed men before they met and the fact that

she is lettin Tony take the fall for the murders and tells them about the cabin in

the woods where they kept their ictims. Tony then presumably went to prison

for his inolement in the murders.

M.O.= Tony and Amber would abduct their ictims toether. After takin the

ictims to the cabin, they would torture them with beatins and cuts and hae

Tony rape them (since Amber was physically incapable of doin so herself) with

her ideotapin him and iin him instructions from behind the camera. After

Amber killed the irls by stranlin them, initially manually but then by liature,Tony would dispose of the bodies semi!naked and placed in demeanin positions

in the wilderness. Tony and Amber then had an unknowin /oey dispose of the

ictims' cars.

Profle:Tony was initially proled to be the leader of the team, but it is radually

reealed that, beneath his 4touh uy4 eterior, he is actually deeply insecure,

especially in his relationship with Amber. The BA5 reali2ed that he wasn't the

leader in part because of his upbrinin, durin which he'd had absolutely no

security or stability and shouldn't therefore hae the condence to commit serial

murder.

reward for doin what he is told. 5nfortunately, there are countless opportunities

for them to meet, and once they hae pulled o6 their icious acts, the two

accept this as common behaior and they become bored with normal actiity.

They lie only for their new reality and are obsessed with it. There is a erce

loyalty between the two, but the submissie one is usually less intellient andonce cauht, he is easier to turn aainst his partner. The lack of remorse for their

ictims increases their aressieness, and only seual sadists like these unsubs

will stop once they are cauht by authorities.

After it was reealed that Tony and Amber were the members of the killin

team, they were initially proled to be the eact opposites of each other= Tony

would be the mastermind of the killin team, while Amber was the submissie

partner. :oweer, the BA5 eentually reali2ed that as an outspoken misoynist,

Amber rew to desire the in;iction of pain on other youn women so they can
