Students who are still not up to date with their immunizations in our computers will be excluded on February 17th, 2016. If your child has not had the Tdap shot, contact your child's health care provider or call Washington County Health Department at 503-846-8851 for an appointment. Courtyard Conversion Campaign Is your ISB student looking for a service opportunity that is available at the school? Are you a junior or senior looking for CAS hours that satisfy both Activity and Service? The Courtyard Conversion Campaign is a student project that is hosting a series of after school courtyard cleanup and gardening events from 2:05-4:00 on Friday afternoons. These events satisfy both CAS and Community Service requirements of the IB program and are open to all ISB students. Interested in learning more? Please see the attachments, including the permission form, provided with this newsletter. You can also contact Brian Truong using the following URL: http://ow.ly/XY6Jt BSD 2nd Annual Career Technical and Experiential Education Fair Tuesday, March 8th, 2016, 6:30-8:00 pm at Merlo Station High School Come explore gratifying, in-demand and financially rewarding careers with 1-2 years of post high school education or training. The intention of this event is to educate our students and families of post high school educational options outside of the 4 year college/university track, for students who need more hands-on, career specific education or are interested in travel and volunteer programs before making decisions about post high school education. Apprenticeships, trades, renewable energy, cosmetology, culinary, massage and wellness, interpreting programs, medical professions, and many more programs will be represented. Host Families Needed - March 6-18 We once again need 12 families to host our sister school Kosugi High School's delegation this year. They will arrive on Sunday, March 6th and depart on Friday, March 18th. The delegation is made up of 11 female students, 1 female teacher/chaperone, and 1 male teacher/chaperone (the latter will stay at a hotel near the school). Each family will be hosting one of the 11 female students or the female teacher/chaperone. If you are unable to host a student, please consider helping by: 1) Providing a ride to the male teacher/chaperone from the Comfort Inn on TV Highway to ISB in the mornings, or 2) Inviting the Kosugi HS male teacher/chaperone to your house for dinner or some other family event such as a party or a movie. The Kosugi HS students will shadow ISB students during their visit and will also spend time in Japanese classes. If your student rides the bus to/from school, we will provide them with special BSD bus passes so that they can ride your student's bus routes. Those families who are interested in hosting, please fill out the application form attached and submit it to Mrs. West via email ([email protected]) or bring it to the ISB main office. All adults 18 or older living in the host house must complete a BSD Background Check. The deadline to apply is February 19th. We appreciate your support! The Game Shelf Do you have an extra board game or card game at home that you could donate to ISB? After cleaning and organizing The Game Shelf in the cafeteria, we realized that we need games for ISB students to play with friends before school and during lunch. We are looking for complete sets because we retired several games that were missing too many pieces.

We request students to help keep The Game Shelf tidy. Games should be neatly returned to the shelf. Put Lost and Found items in the Lost and Found area by the foosball table. Thank you!

Safe Routes to School: Walk and Bike to School It’s good for your heart, your whole body and it’s fun! Walk and Bike with friends and family and on roads with low traffic or sidewalks, dress to see and be seen, cross at intersections/corners. 1. Stop at the curb or edge of the street 2. Look for traffic to the left, right, behind and in front before starting to cross. 3. Wait until no traffic is coming and begin crossing. 4. Keep looking for traffic until you have finished crossing. Lost & Found We cleared out, washed, and donated a lot from our Lost & Found. Many items still remain that have been lost in the last 5 weeks. Look through Lost & Found to discover if you are missing anything. We find more jackets as the weather warms up and the mornings are still chilly. It would be very helpful if you would label your jackets, lunch boxes, and other items that you may possibly misplace at school. FRISB News More Money for Classrooms Due to fundraising that exceeded our expectations, (thanks to our generous ISB community!), the FRISB budget is showing a surplus of funds. At our February meeting, the FRISB board and community voted to approve an amended budget that uses the additional funds to increase our spring grant funding. We want all available money to be used to enhance our students’ education at ISB! Fun Activites for our ISB Community Mark your calendars for three upcoming family fun nights. More information will be coming soon. March 7 - Bowling at Big Al's April 2 - Curling at Evergreen Curling May 5 - Family Game Night at ISB Board Positions for Next Year Do you want to be better informed on what's happening at school? Do you want to be more involved? Then join the FRISB Board! We have several positions that will be vacant next year and we're looking for great people to fill them. If you might be interested and would like more information, contact the FRISB President, Shannon Herbers at [email protected] or any of the other board members. Additional contact information is on the ISB website. Easy Ways to Earn Money for ISB 1) Earn money while shopping on Amazon.com
