Elective modulesFor most pathways you have a wide range of elective
modules you can select from, which are subject to
change. The number of electives you need to take varies
on the pathway you choose.
Electives give you the opportunity to enhance and
deepen your knowledge and skills in areas that
particularly interest you or that will advance your careerin the future.
Electives are offered in various modes by weekly
daytime or evening attendance, by four- or five-day
block attendance or through distance learning.
This year we have structured the Bradford MBA so that
from May to June, regardless of the pathway, you have
the opportunity to take weekly block elective modules
in areas of personal interest in the UK or at one of our
partner institutions in Spain, Italy or France.* Hence, you
may decide on a mixture of electives to follow, a general
business and management pathway or you may want
to specialise in a particular functional area. So you may
choose to take all your electives from one specialism or
take one or more in each category.
* subject to availability.

The Management Project andPersonal Development Portolio (PDP)
The Bradford MBAManagement Project
Our students often find the Management Project
to be the most rewarding and challenging part of
our programme.
It enables you to put the knowledge and skills you have
gained throughout the programme to practical use on
a relevant management issue. The project involves
conducting an original and detailed investigation of a
specific business management problem, written in a
15,000-word dissertation.
If you are sponsored by your employer you would
usually undertake a management project that relates to
your workplace. Otherwise, you may choose to use the
project to deepen your knowledge of a different sector
or organisation, or as a stepping-stone to your next job.
We provide plenty of support and guidance to help
you to make the right choice of topic - and, of course,
during the project itself. We also provide opportunities
for students on the full-time programme to undertake
company-based projects on a competitive basis.
The Bradford PersonalDevelopment Portfolio (PDP)
Many business schools regard the skills development
of students as an option. In contrast, we integrate it into
the programme itself through our Personal Development
Portfolio (PDP)*.
The Bradford PDP is introduced in the first week of
your studies and completed by the end of the taught
programme in the form of a 10-credit module.
*The PDP is not a part of the Distance-learning, DubaiExecutive Modular, Bradford-Perugia MBA in Italy or
Architectural and Construction Management MBA programmes.
The strong emphasis weplace on it helps you to:
study more effectively
manage more confidently and productively
take responsibility for your own continuing
professional development
The Bradford PDP is a programmeof skill development activities andresources which gives students:
Greater career focus and job progression
Improved grades
Better and changed attitude to work
Enhanced self-awareness and confidence
More visible impact at work
These attributes help you develop the kind of
independent and reflective style of learning that will helpyou during your Bradford MBA studies and thereafter,
throughout your working life.
How does it work?
You choose three skills that are important to you from
the areas of careers, study, personal and interpersonal
skills, and plan how to address their development.
Workshops and an individual tutor support this process.
You then gather evidence of your learning from activities
and feedback during both formal and informal aspects
of your programme.
Your Bradford PDP is an indispensable tool for making
the most of your learning opportunities to develop your
management capabilities.

In addition, Yogesh has worked in theBanking sector for 7 years with the State Bank of India.
I just felt that now was the time for me to take a stepup in my career. Hence, I decided to undertake an MBA.I wanted to make best use of my past experiences ofworking in the banking sector and playing cricket within amanagement framework and therefore opted for the full-time MBA programme at Bradford University Schoolof Management.
I chose to come to Bradford University School ofManagement due to its high rankings, impeccablereputation, accreditation and the program structure. It wasreassuring to complete an MBA at one of the UKs oldestestablished university-based business schools.
I particularly appreciate the way the program is designed, which allows plenty of time for class attendance, teamwork and self study unlike some other business schoolswhere the program is very hectic and rushed.
For me undertaking the MBA has meant not justlearning from a text book, but also learning and sharingexperiences with my class-mates.
I have taken a combination of finance and operationmodules in my electives and going to Tilburg (Netherland)for Financial Risk Management was definitely a highlightof the programme.
In the future I would either like to work in finance or getinto sports management. I feel the management tools, techniques and knowledge Ive gained will certainly helpme achieve my goals.

Marcus was keen to achieve a well-respected, highlyrated MBA, and our FTlistings and overall reputationwas important. In practical terms it was the fast-trackstructure of the Accelerated MBA that made all thedifference. The January start date and limited courseduration was a timely short break from my professionalwork. The programme helped to strengthen myappreciation and capabilities in business managementand administration as I progressed from R&D, throughProject Management into company management and
business leadership.
The programme topics complemented my skills, experience and development needs. Access to thethemes and issues within Sustainable Operations inparticular will have a long-term impact on my approachto personal and business management. The significant work-load certainly tested andimproved my ability to manage my time and priorities, achieve on time and in full delivery againstimmovable submission and exam dates. The EffectiveLearning support from day one has been invaluable, itis a real asset to the School and a powerful aspect ofthe educational experience.
I enjoyed fantastic conversations with and supportfrom colleagues and academic staff as we grappledwith relating theory to business practice. Executive Part-time MBA
For Steve Tynegate getting value for money was a keyreason why he opted to study for his MBA at Bradford. He chose to study part-time.
I had always resisted the idea of an MBA because Iwas a manufacturing guy and thought they were onlyfor commercial people. When I started the degree Iwas worried about my age, but these fears were totallyunfounded. My experience meant I was able to makereal contributions in all lectures.
Bradford was my choice because if I was going toinvest nearly two years I wanted a qualification of value. My company, Bayer CropScience, was paying so I alsowanted them to get value for money.
I needed to do a part-time course because I still hada day job. Bradford gave me a quality MBA whichelevated my self-belief.
I used what I learnt about operations to lead my siteteam to win a national manufacturing award, and toput together a proposal for a management buy-out of aredundant site.
