Catholic Schools’ Week Catholic Schools Week is being celebrated this
week. This year’s theme is “Communities of Faith,
Knowledge, and Service.”
This week, Blessed Sacrament School is
celebrating our education and faith. There will be
activities and events to show appreciation not only
for the students, but all of those who support our
education system: the staff, parents, volunteers,
teachers, community, parish, and many more.
We are focusing this week on service to others,
which is a central aspect of Catholic education.
When students take part in service activities –
both local and beyond – they demonstrate the
values and faith they gain through their Catholic
education and learn how to make the world a
better place.
Please join us in spirit and prayer as we dedicate
this week to continuing to grow in our communities
of faith, knowledge, and service through our
education here at Blessed Sacrament.

Congratulations!
Blessed Sacrament School would like to
congratulate Maria Rice for earning an
academic scholarship to Villa Madonna Academy.

We are very proud of her accomplishments!

Evening to Treasure
Classroom Donations
The Evening to Treasure Classroom
Project Committee, along with Grade
Level Coordinators, are excited to create
a unique keepsake for each grade level
that will be presented and bid on during
Evening to Treasure on February 21 st,
2015.
Please help this Committee by making a
donation to cover the supplies needed to
create the classroom projects. The
suggested donation is $5.00 per child or a
maximum of $15.00 per family. A donation
of any amount is appreciated!
But Wait…
That’s Not All We are getting closer to our goal! If we
reach our goal of 200 new tickets turned
in by next Wednesday, the kids will earn
an out of uniform day. If 300 tickets are
turned in, we will hold two special drawings
for (1) $100 Target gift card, and (1)$50
Target gift card. Remember, 365 Tickets
make great teacher appreciation gifts (we
will send your favorite teacher a little note
for you!), birthday gifts, a thank-you gifts
for your neighbor or friend...so many
thoughtful possibilities! Please contact us
if you need more tickets.
It’s that time of year, and the BSS fundraiser, An Evening to Treasure, is right
around the corner. We hope you can join us for a “gift gathering” at Biggby Coffee in
Ft. Mitchell on Friday, February 6th from 9:30-11:30. While we are hoping to
collect donations, we also thought it would be fun to have coffee and get to chat with
parents we already know and meet other parents who are new to our school community.
Tara Davidson and Bethany Flick will be co-chairs again this year for two very exciting
parts of Evening to Treasure, the Gift Card Grab and Cheers to BSS. They want to ask
for your help in making these two parts of the event a success! For the Gift Card Grab
they are hoping to get donations of gift cards to any restaurant or other popular
retailer. Or, if you would prefer to give a monetary donation (checks payable to
“Blessed Sacrament School Parent Club”), they can use that money to purchase gift
cards. They are also in need of liquor and wine donations for the Cheers to BSS
silent auction. If you can’t make it but would still like to donate, Tara and Bethany are
in the car line each day or they can pick up your donation.
As you know, this event helps raise important funds for BSS that help to lower tuition
for each student, pay for all of the technology in the school, all of the salaries for our
teaching specialists, and many other school extras that tuition is not able to cover. In
short, this event helps provide many of the things that make BSS great! Any donation
would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way to support this important event.
If you have any questions, please contact Tara Davidson or Bethany Flick.
And Now For A Taste
Of Things To Come One of the items that will be featured at the silent
auction at E2T, is a bundle of 12 tickets to the Indiana
Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets basketball game on March
21st. All 12 tickets are for the luxury private box at the
Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the
Pacers. So start making plans now, and do tell your
friends.

Dear Kara
Dear Kara,
I’m learning Latin, and I’m having a
hard time remembering how all the
verbs end. For example, if I’m doing
something, the verb ends in “O,” but if someone else is doing it, then the verb ends in “T.” Is
there some way I can remember these more
easily?
-Discipula Latinae-
Dear Discipula,
Music can be a great learning tool. Everybody
learns the ABCs by singing the song and we all
remember it easily. Find a catchy tune and it will
stick with you. Try using the theme from the
Mickey Mouse club to remember your Latin
endings (O-S-T-Mus-Tis-Nt). If you search on
the internet, there are tons of songs posted on
YouTube and other sites that can help you
remember information. Anything from math
facts to the American Revolution can be put to
music. If you really enjoy music, write your own
songs!! Oh, and also remember, quidquid latine dictum sit altum videtur.

Faith Lift
Dear Faith Lift,
We’ve participated in the
prayer vigil for life, which always coincides
with the anniversary of Roe V. Wade, but
doesn’t the Church’s “culture of life” extend
beyond the scourge of abortion?
-Pro-Life-
Dear Pro:
Yes! The Catholic Church advocates
respect for all life, from conception to
natural death. As Jesus taught, respect for
life means more than not killing. In Matthew
5:21-22, Jesus says that even verbal cruelty
toward a fellow human being is unacceptable.
Catholic Social Doctrine teaches us to
honor “the life and dignity” of each person.
It isn’t enough to demand laws against
abortion if we aren’t willing to help those who
struggle to provide decently for the children
they have and are fearful - to the point of
desperation - of having another child to
support. It isn’t enough to protest capital
punishment if we aren’t willing to care for the
mentally ill, the stranger at our border, or the
worker on the other side of the world who
makes our shoes but doesn’t make a living
wage.
The Catholic Church’s teaching on the
sanctity of life is comprehensive. It demands
the humble recognition of the image of God in
each and every human being – whoever and
wherever he or she may be.
