William Blackburn, Lt in Captain David Beattie’s or Captain Andrew Colville’s Company of Washington County VA militia under Col William Campbell, killed in action 07Oct1780, Kings Mountain. B 1748, Fairfax Co Va. Moved to Mulberry Run, Frederick (now Shenandoah) County VA 1755. Moved to Spring Creek, now Abingdon Highlands Airport, Washington Co VA 1771.

The Blackburn family moved to Mulberry Run south of Cedar Creek in old Frederick County VA in 1755. The Blackburns, Vances, and Colvilles organized a Presbyterian Meeting Place on Cedar Creek (only Anglicans could have churches). In 1771, George, Arthur, and William Blackburn were part of a caravan to Wolf Hill,soon Black’s Fort, now Abingdon VA. Perhaps Isaac and Mary Blackburn White onthe line SW of Wolf Hill. George and Arthur had bought tracts from Dr. Joseph Walker.William bought the Spring Creek tract from Edmund Pendleton. Samuel Vancebought down Spring Creek between Blackburn and South fork of Holston. William’smother in law Elizabeth Colville Black Newell bought north at Wyndale Station onBeaver Creek.

Elizabeth Black Blackburn’s uncles Andrew and Samuel Colville, her brother JosephBlack, her sisters Christian Acklin and Janet Vance bought Wolf Hill tracts. Her sister Martha Cusick was in the caravan, but properties unknown. All the men called Parson Charles Cummings to organize the Sinking Spring Presbyterian congregation.They were active in forming Fincastle, the Washington County. They served in civicAnd militia posts.

The Elizabeth Blackburn family moved to Boyds Creek in 1783. -Mary Jane married Samuel Colville Vance from Spring Creek.-Jean married first cousin Joseph Cusick. They obtained part of Elizabeth’s farm near Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy. was granted to second daughter -Margaret married David Evans. -Elizabeth married John Lusk, orphan of Kings Mountain casualty William Lusk.-Martha (Patsey) married Robert Houston in Knox County TN in 1809. -Sarah married Charles C Evans, son of Samuel Evans in Knox County TN 1794.

Elizabeth moved to Edgar County IL with her second and third daughters where She died in 1827.
