INTERVIEW WITH THE CEO & HON. SECRETARY

For our first edition of The Chronicle for the Acad emic Year 2011-2012, the Editorial team interviewed our CEO & Hon. Secretary, Mr. Frank R. Freese in his office immediately after the summer vaca-tion:

Arsh Lakhani: Sir, did you have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation ? Could you please give us some highlights?

Yes, I did. I went to Manchester with my wife to se e my daughter. I visited many castles, haunted ones too!!!

Vedika Iyer: How did you feel on your first day of school when you were around my age?

I felt wonderful. I was excited. This was because m y brother and I would often stay back in school during the vacation . So I was al-ways happy to meet my friends when they came back t o school again.

Amanda Freese : What would you like to tell the children of our school?

The children should behave like ladies and gentleme n. They should be ‘Thorough’ in their work.

Sandhiya Mani: Sir, what were your first reactions on hearing abo ut the ICSE results earlier this year?

I was in England at the time when the results were announced. There were plenty of phone calls and I must say, it was exactly what I expected, a hundred percent result!

Caleb Standen: Sir, is there any progress with the status of Plot No.80?

Yes, there is progress in Plot No.80. The new Deput y Commissioner of Pune has promised to help.

Arshiya Dutta: If you could, would you change the education sys-tem?

Yes, I would like to change it. I’d make it more ch ild-friendly, put fewer burdens on students and improve the quality o f education. With fewer exams, children should enjoy school.

Amanda Freese: As we begin a new academic year, what would you like to tell the students of the Bishop’s Co-Ed Sch ool, Kalyani-nagar?

Open your day with prayer, be helpful, disciplined and don’t expect your school to do everything for you. Be true to yo urself and to the school.

Saptarshi Majumdar: Are there any chances of having a junior col-lege in the near future on our campus?

I really have no answer to that as there are not en ough

students wanting to come back.

Sneha Sajjan: We already have an interschool sports tournament. Sir, are you planning to extend this to other field s as well such as Debating and Quizzing?

Sneha Sajjan: We already have an interschool sports tournament. Sir, are you planning to extend this to other fields as well such as Debat-ing and Quizzing?

Yes, we would like to have interschool competitions in Boxing, Elo-cution and Debates, if we can fit them into our cal endar. The purpose of this is no to see which school wins, but to rais e the standard of each school through healthy competition.

Rohan Jhunja: Pertaining to the Right To Education Act, which ai ms at providing education to all children in the 6-14 age group, do you think it is viable?

I think it is a very idealistic thought. However, I ’m giving it my best shot. We have already taken in many under-privilege d children and will continue to do so in the near future.

Deepankar Bhat: As we approach our 9 th founders day what are the changes that you have seen in the school ?

The school has evolved from a crawling baby to youn g men and women walking & running. I also believe that the sc hool hasn’t only progressed academically but also progressed in disc ipline and the standard of education.

Ritwik Vatsyayan: Sir, Would you leave us with a thought to inspire us for the rest of the term?

Be true to your friends, teachers and the Bishop’s school motto. Be sincere and diligent in whatever you do.

Anjali Suresan: Sir, could you give me a phrase to describe an ide al Bishopite.

A ‘Thorough’ lady and a gentleman.

Tishya Venkatraman: We’d like to thank you Sir for this opportunity and your time.
