THE BIDWILL BUSH TELEGRAPH
Newsletter Term 4
Week 8
From the
Principal I would like to begin
by thanking our par-
ents, staff and stu-
dents for their par-
ticipation in our school’s program
review. The week passed seam-
lessly thanks to Miss Yard’s or-
ganisational skills which were
greatly appreciated by the Pro-
gram review Team and all others
who were involved in the process.
Thank you Miss Yard.
For many years our school has
implemented the Reading Recov-
ery program. This program is ac-
knowledged worldwide as an ef-
fective strategy to improve the
reading skills of Year 1 students.
Teachers who implement the pro-
gram gain their qualifications
through intensive training and
development over a two year pe-
riod. At the end of the two years
teachers become registered Read-
ing Recovery teachers. This
qualification is recognised world-
wide. Yesterday I had the pleas-
ure of attending the awards cere-
mony for Reading Recovery
Teachers. I would like to con-
gratulate Mrs McClintock on the
completion of her first year of
training and Mrs Garnon on the
completion of her training and
registration as a Reading Recov-
ery teacher.
We are also celebrating wins in
the PSSA competition with two
champion teams bringing home
trophies. CONGRATULATIONS
to Miss Woolley and our
Leadership Election
Leadership speeches and voting
will take place in the hall during
whole school assembly tomor-
row. All leadership candidates
have been campaigning over the
last few weeks and are all anx-
ious to present their speeches.
Parents and family of all candi-
dates are most welcome to attend.
Assembly will commence at ap-
proximately 9.45am in the hall.
Mrs Rowen and Ms Hardie
DON’T BE
ALARMED!!!! On Thursday 2nd
December we will
be having a prac-
tice Emergency
Evacuation.
Fun Day
Fun Day is being
held this Friday
from12:10-
1:20pm. Fun Day
is an opportunity for all students
to participate in activities run by
Year 6 students. Stalls will be
selling things and running activi-
ties for 50 cents. All parents are
welcome to attend. There
will also be a sausage sizzle. All
money made raises money for the
Year 6 farewell.
Miss Fleming and Ms Ross.
Volleyball team and Miss Flem-
ing and our Senior Boys softball
team. I was there to watch both
finals. The competition was tough
but all our students played with
conviction and won the day. I
walked away a very proud Princi-
pal not only because of the wins
but because of the sportsmanship
and teamwork displayed by our
students and the quiet and strong
reassurance of their coaches. Well
done!
We are rapidly approaching the
end of the year and we have a
number of special events coming
up including our Thank You
Morning Tea, Presentation As-
sembly, Year 6 Farewell and
Graduation and Gold and Silver
Bunya Excursion. Student Re-
ports are also being sent home in
Week 10.
Our final newsletter for 2010 will
be sent home on Tuesday 14th De-
cember.
The final day for student atten-
dance in 2010 is Wednesday 15th
December 2010.
Have a great fortnight.
PSSA News Congratulations to our mixed
Volleyball and the boys Softball
teams for winning their grand fi-
nals on Friday afternoon. All stu-
dents represented our school with
pride. Ms Woolley and I were
very proud of both teams and it
was wonderful to see so many
parents at the park supporting our
students. Miss Fleming
