Increase the damageof your enemies byhitting them withattacks. The higher afighter's damage, the farther thatfighter will be launched when hit.

In Super Smash Bros.™, characterssuch as Mario™, Link™, and Kirby™jump outside the borders of theirown series and do battle! Throughdifferent kinds of attacks, they tryto launch each other into the airand off the stage. With wirelessplay, you can battle your friendsnearby or fight players from aroundthe world.

Even if you've beenlaunched away fromthe stage, you can useyour jumps and othermoves to try to return. Continue thefight!

7 Saving and Deleting Data

◆ Deleted data cannot berecovered, so be careful.

◆ Make sure you have downloadedthe latest update for the softwarebefore deleting data. If you havenot done so, you will not be ableto delete data that came from asystem that has the latestupdate.

After starting the game, wait untilthe Nintendo 3DS logo disappears.Before the title menu appears, pressand hold , , , and to deleteall save data.

Deleting Data

Any progress you have made andany settings you have changed willbe saved whenever you end a battleor adjust settings.

Saving Data

Data can be lost due to useraction, such as repeatedlypowering off and on the systemor removing a Game Card or SDCard while saving. Data lossmay also be caused by poorconnectivity due to dirt or dustin the system's ports. Pleasebe aware that in these casesdata cannot be restored.

About the DownloadableVersion

If you have your save data onan SD card and try to overwriteit with save data you previouslytransferred to your computer,the Nintendo 3DS will not beable to read the save data. It isnot possible to back up yoursave data this way, so pleasekeep this in mind.

8 Movement

You can jump by flicking up on or by pressing or . You are ableto jump again in midair, or air-jump,by pressing the jump buttons again.

◆ Not all floors can be droppedthrough.

Flicking down on will allow yourcharacter to drop through platforms.

Dropping through Platforms

Slide down to crouch and reducethe amount of knock-back thatresults from enemy attacks.

Flicking and holding left or rightwill cause your character to dash.As long as you hold , you willcontinue to dash.

Use to walk. Your speed willchange depending on how muchyou slide it to the left or right.

Taunting

◆ Taunting leaves you exposedto enemy attacks, so tauntwisely.

Pressing willcause yourcharacter to taunt.Different taunts willhappen depending on thedirection you press.

◆ Some fighters have specialmoves or tools to grab on toedges.

If you get closeenough to an edge,your character will grabon to it. Pressing leftor right, jumping, or pressing theattack or shield button will let youclimb up off the edge in a variety ofways.

Flick and hold or hold in acertain direction to charge uppower. Release the held buttons todeliver a more powerful smashattack.

Flick and press at the sametime or tilt to deliver a smashattack and launch your enemy.

Smash Attacks

Slide and press to perform astrong attack. Different kinds ofattacks can be launched dependingon the direction you slide .

Strong Attacks

You can perform standard attackswith , and by repeatedly pressing, you can execute a series ofattacks. With some characters, ifyou hold , you'll continue toswing until an attack hits anopponent. You'll then automaticallyunleash a series of standardattacks.

Final Smashes

By breaking opena Smash Ball(page 13) andpressing , yourcharacter will perform his or herFinal Smash—a secret andpowerful attack unique to thatcharacter.

Press to do aspecial move. You canperform other movesand attacks by sliding and pressing .

While airborne, press to performattacks. Sliding and pressing or tilting will trigger differentmoves.

10 Shields

Grab opponents eitherby pressing / or bypressing whileshielding. Aftergrabbing an enemy, use to throwthem or to attack them whilethey are in your grip.

When shielding, flick to dodge in theselected direction. Thisis useful when youwant to dodge a blow or sneakaround for a counterattack.

Press or to guardagainst enemy attacks.

◆ Your shield will shrink over timeor if it takes damage. If yourshield breaks, you'll be stunnedfor a short time and unable toact.

The object of each battle is toknock back and launch yourenemies so they fall off or cannotmake it back to the stage. Hitenemy fighters to increase theirdamage, and then land a SmashAttack to launch them!

◆ Snapshots will be saved to yourSD card.

Pressing willtemporarily pausethe game, allowingyou the chance totake snapshots or end a battle.

◆ For example, if your number was147,200, you would be rankedhigher than 147,199 peopleworldwide.

Attacking or throwing acontainer will break itopen, revealing the itemsinside.

Container (Carrying)

Throwing one of thesewill cause a Legendary orhard-to-find Pokémon toappear and assist you.

Master Ball (Helping)

The effects of some items becomeclear simply by touching them orpicking them up, while other itemsrequire you to hit an enemy or waitawhile. It all depends on the item.

Item Information

Pick up a nearby item by pressing. Press again to use it, or press/ to discard it. Throw the itemby sliding and pressing / atthe same time.

When it explodes, thisitem emits long lines offire in the shape of an Xand pierces all terrain.

X Bomb (Throwing)

Hitting enemies with thisweapon will light them onfire and damage them.When you land a blow,this weapon loses one fireball.

Fire Bar (Battering)

Touching this item willmake a fighter bigger andmore powerful.

Super Mushroom(Transforming)

◆ If your enemy is at over 100damage, the item will heal thatenemy when it hits.

If you get one of thesewhen your damage isover 100, it will remove100 points of damage. Ifyou have less than 100, you canstill throw the item at enemies.

Fairy Bottle (Recovery)

Light it on fire or hit itwith a strong attack tocause an explosion.

Blast Box (Exploding)

Gather all three parts tocomplete the legendaryDragoon.

Dragoon Parts (Combining)

While in the air, hold up, or hold or , to flyupward on bursts fromthe belt's jets.

Rocket Belt (Gear)

Attacking Sandbag willcause items to fall out.

◆ If you would like to removeplayers from your list of blockedplayers, open the Online menuand hold for more thanthree seconds.

When viewing other players'profiles, you can choose to blockthem or report them for badbehavior.

21 Playing with amiibo

As amiibo battle, they will level up,slowly becoming stronger. They willlearn based on how their opponentsfight, and you can feed themequipment to give them newabilities, allowing every amiibo togrow into a unique fighter.

About amiibo

If you use an amiibo, the data savedon it can appear in battles as an FP(Figure Player). FPs can standagainst you as rivals or fight byyour side as partners.◆ You cannot control FPs.

Connecting to Super SmashBros. for Wii U

You can share amiibo databetween both versions of SuperSmash Bros. That means thatan amiibo trained on SuperSmash Bros. for Wii U can beused with the Nintendo 3DSversion, and vice versa.

◆ If your amiibo is set to work withSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, youdon't have to change anysettings to make it work for thisversion.

Go to Games & More → amiibo, andthen touch your amiibo to the NFCarea to register the owner's Mii andthe amiibo figure's nickname andthen set character's appearance.

When you leave the character-selection screen or the amiibomenu, you will be given theopportunity to save changes to theamiibo. Touch the amiibo to theNFC area to save the following data.
