Selecting A Financial Professional Can Be More Important ThanSelecting The Family Doctor.
You don’t always go to the doctor when you should. Of course your doctor calls you every month or quarter to discuss your goals, tolerances and exercise schedules. The good Financial Professional is not afraid of challenging you or your personal and/or financial objectives.
Financial professionals can assist you in the following ways:
• Assess your relevant financial history, such as tax returns, investments, retirement and estate planning, wills, and insurance policies.
• Review your net-worth statement and examine your debts.
• Help you decide on a financial plan, based on your personal and financial goals.
• Identify financial areas where you may need help, such as building up a retirement income, improving your investment returns, tax saving suggestions, etc. • Write down a financial plan based on your individual situation.
• Review your situation and financial plan periodically and suggest changes in your program when needed.
For a 20 minute independent review of your financial plan from an
entrepreneurial minded Estate and Business Underwriter and

On September 11, the COunCil Of barringtOn garden ClubS recognized 13 Barrington area businesses, the Village of Barrington, Countryside Garden Class, and St. Mark’s Day School for their efforts in creating beautiful and well-maintained landscapes. Volunteers from seven of Barrington’s garden clubs observed 60 landscapes within Barrington. Each site was evalu-ated on good design, and how suitable the plants were for the climate and for each site. The volunteers also observed the sites during the summer to determine how well the design worked over time and how well the plants thrived. All the garden clubs that participated in this year’s Beautification Committee were Country Home and Garden; Countryside Garden Class; The Gar-den Club of Barrington; Green Thumbs Garden Club; The Little Garden Club of Barrington; and The South Barrington Garden Club. Lande Sanusi with C.A.K.E. art instructors Gavin and Ewa.
On Saturday, October 5, C.A.K.E. Village (Culture of Africa for Kids Everywhere) celebrated its grand opening. The Nigerian-themed event featured various children’s activities such as theatre sessions, African costume dress-up, pottery painting, bead making, drumming, cultural dancing, and more. Attenders enjoyed African food tasting, and cupcakes that were infused with favors of Africa, such as plaintain and chili pepper. There was a brown carpet for photo opportunities. As the first African cultural center designed exclusively for children in the Northwest Suburbs, owner Lande Sanusi got the idea to create the village from her children. Sanusi, who grew up in Nigeria, felt that her kids were underexposed to Africa. The C.A.K.E. Village’s mission is to foster an enriched connection between Africa and children everywhere. The C.A.K.E. Village offers outreach, enrichment programs to schools, and is available for birthday parties. For more information, visit www.TheCAKEVillage.com. The C.A.K.E. Village is located at 611 E. Main St., East Dundee.
“We’re unique from other places that buy gold and silver,” said Debi Giannini, one of the owners of this family run business. “We buy so much more than just gold and silver.”
Located for 17 years in the same location in downtown Barrington, people who come in the shop feel a sense of the familiar as they see vintage showcases with items displayed that are similar to what they are bringing in.
“Other places, you’re just walking into an office,” Giannini said. “Here you enter our showroom and can find a beautiful piece of jewelry and think, ‘I remember my grandmother wearing something like this.’ ”
Giannini is currently seeking antique diamond jewelry, vintage costume jewelry, crystal and glass beads, and rhinestone pieces.
