The Arrow October 2020 Go Long or Go Home By Kennedy Perry & Ella Griffith The Tecumseh Lady Braves Girls Golf Team had a successful season along with some pretty great memories! The girls improved their scores a lot compared to last year and girls that just started playing this year have improved tremendously. The seniors this year were Erin Pemberton, Elizabeth Blackford, and Kylie Gresham. “The seniors will be missed next year; they didn’t just play an important role on the course for our team but they were super fun to spend my free time with. Junior Kennedy Perry said “I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them and I am proud of how much they have improved through the years.” When the seniors asked what they would miss most about the season, Gresham replied “I’m really going to miss the adrenaline rush after a good drive.” Pemberton said “I am never going to forget that topping is always almost the perfect shot.” However, Blackford amusingly stated “Golf is the most aggravating thing I have ever done.” As the season has sadly come to an end and the seniors will be moving forward, you should definitely be looking out for the Tecumseh Lady Braves Golf Team next year!

Teacher Spotlight: Brian Harris High School Special Education Teacher and Middle SChool Athletic Director

By Josh Embry & Remington Pfeffer

Where did you go to college? “I received my undergrad at Ball State and my masters online                     at Campbellsville.” What was your favorite thing about college? “Three years on the baseball team was a great experience.                   Just the freedom of the college experience and having a                   house for my brother and I.” What is your favorite sport to watch at Tecumseh? Why? “It is a tie between volleyball and basketball just because of                     how frequent the games are. I would have to say wrestling                     though is incredible to watch just because of the effort it                     takes.” What do you miss most about being a 7th grade basketball                     coach? “The day-to-day connection with the kids and just being able                   to watch the kids grow up seeing how they progress through                     their lives.” What is your favorite thing about working with the middle school?  “I get to do athletics which I enjoy, and I especially enjoy the AD aspect of it. In addition, I                                       get to watch the kids grow for 3 years instead of just 1.” What is your favorite dad joke? “How come you never see elephants hiding in a tree? Because they're so good at it.” Who do you tell the most dad jokes to? “Mrs. Kruse” Who is your favorite co-worker to bother? “Mrs. Ripple because her classroom is the closest” How were your dances with the retired Mr. Buck? “Epic…. Anything with Coach Buck and dancing is incredible”  What are some of your best experiences as a dance dad? “Watching my daughter do what she loves and improve at it is what any parent would                               enjoy. I also get to help with the props which helps things go faster.” Would you say that being a dance dad is better than being a dance mom? Why? “Absolutely, Dance Moms is accurate. From the perspective of the dads, it's less drama, we                             don’t get upset if they lose, we just go home.”

Notorious RBG By Elyssa Ernspiger

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, born Joan Ruth Bader, studied at                 Cornell University, where she then transferred to Harvard law.                 She was one of nine women in a class of five hundred. She                         then transferred to Columbia Law, and became the first                 person to be a member of both the Harvard and Columbia                     Law Reviews. She tied for first in her class at Columbia. Her                       activism was deeply influenced by Swedish feminism, which               argued that both women and men had to equally divide                   parental responsibilities. She not only fought for women, but                 for LGBTQ+, male, and indigenous communities.  Below is a list of things that were legal before Ruth’s influence:

● Sex based discrimination was legal in the workplace ● Pregnant women in the Air Force were forced to be

discharged unless their pregnancy was terminated ● Women were unable to re-enlist in the military after they became a mother ● Female hairstylists couldn’t cut men’s hair

The Supreme Court Justice fought for the rights of many people and her loss has been                               mourned across the country. Her death on September 18 has left a vacancy on the                             Supreme Court which is coveted by both Democrats and Republicans.

Rewind! By Lauren Brammeier & Jalen Oxley

The yearbook theme for this year is Rewind! To incorporate this theme in the yearbook, the yearbook staff is using song lyrics as titles, throwback pictures from past yearbooks, and other musical ideas. A poll was taken by Tecumseh High School students and the #1 music genre chosen is Country with 37 percent of the votes. Pop was the second choice and Rap was third. With that being said, they were also asked their favorite musical artist. Morgan

Wallen led with 4 votes with Hank Williams Jr, Post Malone, and Luke Combs following with 3 votes. Others that got 2 votes were Ryan Upchurch, Juice Wrld, Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Polo G.

School isn’t Cool…. When It’s a Nightmare! By Kyra Ethridge & Amber Sheets

We asked students and teachers to tell us one of their school-related nightmares.

Here is what they said:

Coach Fuhriman: “Abby and Emma joined the swim team. I started to notice that the                             kickboards and pull boys were disappearing. I asked them if they saw them, and                           they said, “We don’t need them.” It got to the point that they were all missing.                               Emma didn’t show up for practice, so I went to her house. When I walked into her                                 room, the pullboys were on her bed as pillows, and there was a pile of kickboards in                                 the corner.”  Ms. Rexing: “One of my students got kidnapped. I had students from my old school in                               a room, just in case I needed them for help. The students and I all turned into ninjas                                   and fought our way to the old baseball barn to help the kidnapped student using our                               ninja skills.”  Mrs. Julian: “I woke up, and I had crazy, rainbow hair. I tried calling in saying that I                                   was sick because I knew that Fischer wouldn’t let me work with colored hair.”  Levi Carlisle: “I accidentally came to school in my underwear.”  Haylee Sheets: ”In kindergarten, we were at school. These huge, giant monsters                       came in and started announcing names over the intercom to come outside. Once                         you were outside, there were a bunch of monsters that would squirt flavouring on                           you. Once you made it to the end, you walked into the big monster’s mouth. I didn’t                                 want to be eaten, so I went into the classroom to find my name and threw it away,                                   and then I woke up.”  Kyra Ethridge: “I had a dream, that during swim lessons the school caught on fire. We                               all had to hide under the water. It turned out that I could breathe underwater. The                               next day I had swim lessons, and I thought that I could breathe underwater, so I tried                                 and choked.

How I Met My Best Friend By Gracie Gogel & Kinsly Heichelbech

Ashtyn Green and Emily Bogan They played with each other in preschool. In kindergarten, Ashtyn asked Emily if she wanted a Starburst and Emily was supposed to tell the teacher if anyone talked, so Emily told on Ashtyn for asking; now in high school, they have every class together.  Kabree Oxley and the Sullivan twins Kaybree was in first grade and the twins were in second grade. At softball practice in 2010, the twins’ dad was the coach, and Kaybree had just joined the team. Their dad made Gracee and Lillee throw with her. Then at school, Kaybree was new, so the twins took her under their wings.  Jalen Oxley and Riley Browning Rilee and Jalen have known each other since first grade. The two would always play together at recess and have been very close friends ever since.   Kade Brown and Samantha Boylls Kade and Sam’s parents have always been close friends, even before the two were born. So, they have pretty much grown up together and have been close friends ever since they can remember.

Socially Distanced Halloween By Ella Richardt & Allison Riley

This year for Halloween is going to be very difficult because we will have to follow the CDC guidelines. Here are a few ways that your town and yourself can have a spooktacular Halloween this year.

● Have a Halloween parade in your town ● If you don’t feel safe being around people

then leave out a little goody bag full of candy and have the kids have one each.

● Drop off little treats at your neighbors doorstep for them. Kind of like reverse trick or treating.

● Have a trunk or treat!! Get some people together in the community and go to a parking lot where social distance can be maintained, decorate the trunks of your car, and give out candy. Make sure to maintain social distance!

● If you are going to pass out candy be sure to put a table out so you follow the guidelines and stay 6 feet away

● If you have the trick or treaters come to your front porch ( if you have one) you could hang streamers with candy bags hanging from them. This could be a fun way for the kids to get the candy and still be safe.

● If you want to be sneaky drop treat bags off on your neighbors doorstep, ring the doorbell, and RUN!

● Your neighborhood could host a town wide scavenger hunt. Each kid could get a limit of prizes and once they reached the limit they couldn't search anymore.
