INTRODUCTION
• Nanotechnology can pave way for the transformation of food production as a healthy process.
• It enhances the ability of plants to fight diseases and environmental pressures.
• Food shortages owing to environmental impacts can be reduced at a larger scale.
NANO-AGRICULTURE
• The application of nanotechnology to agriculture is possible by setting up
1.A controlled environment agriculture.
& 2.Implementing precision
farming.• They both act as a platform for implementing
nanotechnology.
COTROLLED ENVIRONMENT AGRICULTURE[CEA]
• The CEA methodology is most widely used in USA,Japan&Europe.
• CEA is an efficient and advanced form of hydroponically- based agriculture.
• Nanotechnological devices used for CEA improve the ability to determine the best time of harvest ,food security issues &other contamination factors.
PRECISION FARMING
• Precision farming is used to precisely identify the nature and the root cause of the problems.
• This is done by the aid of computers,GPS&remote sensing devices .
• Factors such as soil conditions ,plant development Seeding, fertilizers, chemical & water use are considered in precision farming.
CREATING A NANO FARM
• Nanosensors linked to a GPS system can be distributed throughout the field.
• These sensors can monitor soil conditions & crop growth.
• Also these smart sensors along with precision farming can enhance productivity in agriculture by letting the farmers take better decisions.
NANOSENSORS
• Nanosensors utilize carbon nanotubes to trap small molecules thus sensing the presence of contaminant such as bacteria.
• These sensors can also be engineered to trigger a electrical or chemical signal in presence of a contaminant.

CONTRIBUTION OF NANOSENSORS
• Before a farmer could identify the issues that hinder the growth of plants, nanosensors take remedial action on the issues.
• In the near future nanosensors will become a friend to all farmers & their landlords.
CONCLUSION
• Agriculture is the backbone of most of the developing countries.
• In INDIA more than 60% of people rely on agriculture.
• Food shortage is also increasing rapidly.• All these issues can be tackled if and only if
nano world is brought into agri world.
