ResultsA series of events resulted from these efforts. A conference took place in semester in the auditorium and the guest speaker, Professor Zallouaa (LAU Professor and National Geographic speaker), gave a presentation about Phoenicians and demonstrated the Phoenician origins of the Lebanese people. Daily Assistanceand Services

An important aspect of the student union services is its daily duty toprovide assistance and support to all its fellow students. the student union stood by all NDU students regardless of their affiliation, helping them on the registration days, on the drop and add period, on the entrance exams days, on the orientation day...

The student union helped many students write their petitions, register in their courses, make overloads and solve their administarative issues...

Moreover, the student union has accompanied the NDU family through all kind of events, participating in all activities taking place in our university and defending the student body when needed.

It is important to mention that such services are the natural duties of the student union, thus they are not listed as achievements; however due to their utmost importance for the students they cannot be forgone.

Elimination of the ACO 202 and STA 206

repetition of the final exam

ReasonsThe ACO 202 and STA 206 final exams of the Fall 2008 semester were stolen and made available to some students prior to the exam dates. The ones responsible for stealing or distributing the exam were caught but the administrative decision was to administer “I” (Incomlpete) grades to all students taking the two courses, and to repeat the final exams to all as well. The Student Union received many complaints of the students of these 2 courses that were obliged to study again during their Spring Break. Furthermore, it was not the first time a repetition of exams was used as a way to correct infractions concerning the weak exams’ security system in use.

RequirementsSeveral meetings were held with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the committee of the board of deans regarding this issue but did not succeed at first. Hence, an online petition was prepared in challenging time conditions. A request was then filed to the VP Dr. Rihani, listing the Student Union arguments against the repetition of the final exams and including the petition.

ResultsThe request played a significant role upon consideration and ultimately, thanks to the administration’s understanding, the repetition of the final exams was cancelled. In addition, the administration implemented new safety protocols for handling exams. The Student Union sincerely thanks its fellow students, especially the ACO 202 and STA 206 students of Fall 2008, for putting their trust in us and supporting our actions to attain these results. Moreover, the Student Union is very appreciative of the understandings and efforts of Dr. Amine Rihani, Dr. Eli Yachoui (FBAE Dean) and Dr. Chahine Ghais (FPSPAD Dean).
