THE ANIMAL KINKDOM

The Origins of lifeThis question has always preoccupied man, both for

himself and for the living things around him.

The references made in the Qur’an regarding the aquatic origin of life is strictly in accordance

with the modern scientific data:

Life is in fact of aquatic origin and water is the major component of all living cells.

Without water, life is not possible.

“Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then We clove them asunder and We got every living thing out of the water. Will they not then believe?”

(Qur’an 21:30)

“And Allah has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs;

and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily

Allah has power over all things.” Qur’an (24:45)

STATEMENTS CONCERNING BEES, SPIDERS AND BIRDS

When specialists on the nervous system wish to provide striking examples of the prodigious organization directing animal behavior possibly the most referred-to animals are bees, spiders and birds (especially migratory birds). Whatever the case, there is no doubt that these three groups constitute a model of highly evolved organization.

MY LORD HAS NAMED A WHOLE CHAPTER IN HIS BOOK AFTER MY NAME:

THE BEE“And thy Lord inspired the bee, saying:

Choose thou habitations in the hills and in the trees and in that which they thatch; Then eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of thy Lord, made smooth (for thee). There cometh forth from their

bellies a drink diverse of hues, wherein is healing for mankind. Lo! herein is indeed a

portent for people who reflect.” (The Bee, 16:68-69)

FROM A CHAPETER TITLED:

“The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who taketh unto herself a

house, and lo! the frailest of all houses is the spider's house,

if they but knew.” (The Spider:29:41)

FROM A CHAPTER TITLED:

“Till, when they reached the Valley of the Ants, an ant exclaimed: O ants! Enter your dwellings lest Solomon and his armies crush you, unperceiving. And (Solomon) smiled, laughing at her speech, and said: My Lord, arouse me to be thankful for Thy favor wherewith Thou hast favored me and my parents, and to do good that shall be pleasing unto Thee, and include me in (the number of) Thy righteous slaves.”

BOTH OF US ARE WEAK

“O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from him. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought!” (Qur’an, 22:73)

Page 9: The animal kingdom

Animal behavior has been closely investigated in recent decades, with the result that genuine animal communities have been shown to exist. of course, for a long time now the results of a group or community's work have been examined and this has led to the acceptance of a community organization.

REFERENCES TO THE EXISTENCE OF ANIMAL COMMUNITIES

Birds are frequently mentioned in the Qur'an. They appear in episodes in the life of Abraham, Joseph, David, Solomon and Jesus.

(peace be upon them all)

Page 10: The animal kingdom

“There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, then unto their Lord they will be gathered.”

Qur’an (6:38)

Page 11: The animal kingdom

“Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them?

Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo!He is Seer of all things.”

(Qur’an,67:19)

THE FORMATION OF MILK The basic materials which allow the nourishment of the body come about as a result of chemical changes in the digestive system. These digested substances then pass through the wall of the intestine into the blood stream. Due to the circulation of the blood, the nutriments reach the mammary glands, the producers of milk as it does to any other organ.

This very precise concept is the result of the discoveries made in the chemistry and physiology of the digestive system. It was totally unknown at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): the knowledge of it belongs to recent times.

Page 13: The animal kingdom

“Verily, in cattle there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of what is inside their bodies, coming from a conjunction between the contents of the intestine and the blood, a milk pure and pleasant for those who drink it..” ََQur’an(16, 66)

Then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?

Qur'an, (55:18)

Page 14: The animal kingdom

And cattle He has created for you (men): from them ye derive warmth, and numerous benefits, and of their (meat) ye eat.

And ye have a sense of pride and beauty in them as ye drive them home in the evening, and as ye lead them forth to pasture in the morning.

And they carry your heavy loads to lands that ye could not (otherwise) reach except with souls distressed: for your Lord is indeed Most Kind, Most Merciful.

And (He has created) horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and use for show; and He has created (other) things of which ye have no knowledge. Qur’an (16:5-8)

Page 15: The animal kingdom

O men! Call to mind the grace of Allah unto you! is there a creator, other than Allah, to give

you sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are ye

deluded away from the Truth? Qur'an (35: 3)

The Camel “Ship of the Desert”.

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made? And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm? And at the Earth,

how it is spread out? Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to

admonish. Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

Qur’an (88:18-22)

Page 17: The animal kingdom

What a wonderful structure has this Ship of the Desert? He can store water in his stomach for days. He can live on dry and thorny desert shrubs. His limbs are adapted to his life. He can carry men and goods. His flesh can be eaten. Camel's hair can be used in weaving. And withal, he is so gentle! Who can sing his praises enough?

LIKE SWARMING LOCUSTS

They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes

like an expanding swarm of locusts.

Qur’an (54:7)

Page 19: The animal kingdom

• The resurrected are likened to locusts; why particularly locusts?

• There is a similarity between the rebirth of locusts and man’s resurrection.
