Ofsted Inspection

As you are aware Ofsted Inspectors have been in school this week and the resulting report will be published in a few weeks time.

I would like to thank the parents and carers for all their support to the school and also thank our students for making the inspectors feel so welcome and talking to them so confidently about their learning and general school experience. The inspectors specifically asked me to pass on their thanks to all of the students for being so polite and helpful.

Of course I must also thank every member of the school's staff for their fantastic efforts. They will certainly have earned their half term break next week! Kind regards, Simon Liley Headteacher

Drama and SPLENDID Theatre Productions

A Level, BTEC, GCSE and VCert

Drama students took part in a

specialist theatre workshop with

director/producer/actor Kerry

Frampton from SPLENDID

Theatre Productions. Students

looked at methods of directing,

character research, confidence

building and believability. Once

the workshop had finished year

12 students led their own

workshop with year 10 students

inspired by Splendid exercises.

Students were a credit to the

school. Kerry mentioned how

intrigued, polite and kind they

were. Students impressed us all

with their willingness to commit to

trying new things and not to fear

failure.

Well done to all!

Mrs Scales

Y9 SCIENCE AND GEOGRAPHY ENRICHMENT TASK

On Monday and Tuesday this week 90 of our year 9 students took part in a 2 day Science and Geography enrichment task. On Monday the students were briefed on the task: a solar buggy challenge designed to test scientific technique, team work and design skills. Students were provided with a basic solar buggy kit and had to carry out various scientific tasks in order to choose the most suitable shape, mass, light source for charging and wavelength of light in order to complete a number of different challenges at the end of the two days. On day two of the challenge students participated in a Lego robotics activity. Teams were pitted against one another to build a robot and program the robot to carry out various tasks such as parking in specified areas, rescuing astronauts and setting up satellites. The students’ projects were judged at the

end of the day and the winners will be

announced with prizes after half term.

Can you solve this week’s problem?

Athletics Club

An athletics club has two types of member: junior and adult. The junior members are

either boys or girls. There are 16 more adult members than there are junior members.

The ratio of girls to boys to adults is 3:4:9.

In total, how many members does the club have?

How did you get on with last week’s problem?

In the multiplication table on the left, the input factors (in the first row

and first column) are all missing, and only some of the products in the

table are given. All the numbers in the table (including those not shown)

are positive integers.

What is the value of A+B+C+D+E?

Then, the input factor on the third row must multiply by 3 to give 18, so must

be 18÷3=6.

Likewise, the input factor in the third column must multiply by 5 to give 40, so must

be 40÷5=8.

These are shown in the table on the right.

Multiplication Table Puzzle

Looking at the first column, the input number at the top must be a factor of

both 15 and 18. The only common factors of these are 1 and 3, so the input number

must be one of these.

Looking at the second row, the input number on the left must be a common factor

of 15 and 40. The only common factors of these are 1 and 5, so the input number

on the left must be 1or 5.

These two input factors in the first column and second row must multiply to give 15,

so must be 3 and 5 respectively, as shown in the table on the left.

Angmering Gymnastics Another wonderful achievement from the gymnasts training at Angmering Gymnastics who train at Angmering School. They travelled to Tunbridge Wells to compete against gymnasts from all over the South East and their gymnasts literally took over the podium with Lily O'Hare taking Gold, Hannah Keating Silver, Holly Duncan Bronze, Lexie Collins 4th and Evie Simpson 6th. Myeisha Eagles also took a silver medal and the team won Gold too! In the final round Evie Sykes also took Silver. Fantastic results for Angmering!
