They create websites and make phone calls and email solicitations using web domain names and email addresses that look similar to the official versions for the event, offering special discounted hotel rooms that do not exist with the goal of obtaining your credit card infor- mation. ASPE is the official housing provider for the 2019 Tech Symposium and has worked with the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Hotel to establish a room block for Symposium at- tendees and exhibitors. The only way you can obtain the special rate is through the 2019 Tech Symposium website: aspe.org/2019Tech. Improper solicitation of hotel reservations from any company or housing provider other than ASPE is not approved. ASPE launches an exciting new member benefit We are pleased to announce the launch of ASPE Connect, an online platform where members can connect, engage, and learn with fellow professionals. In this online community, you will be able to network, share insights and experiences, and gain knowledge through interactive discussions-all from your computer or mobile device. Ohio Board of Building Standards Stake-holder Meeting Board Staff will conduct a Stakeholder Meeting to hear comments and respond to questions on the proposed amendments summarized below on June 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM in Training Room 1, 6606 Tussing Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068. All interested stakeholders are invited to attend. ISO publishes first global BIM standards The standards are meant to provide the frame-work to help designers and contractors from dif-ferent countries collaborate more efficiently on all phases of construction projects. The global construction industry is booming, bringing with it global construction projects and the need for efficient tools such as Building Information Mod-elling (BIM) for managing information. A new set of International Standards has just been pub-lished to enable BIM to flourish across projects and borders, benefitting the industry as a whole. (https://www.iso.org/news/ref2364.html) ASME launches a new automated Standards Update Notifications system Through the system, subscribers will be in-formed via email when an update to an ASME
standard has been published. The system will not provide a copy of the standard, only notifica-tion that it has been updated. Users can sign up for specific updates by copy/pasting the follow-ing link into your browser: (https://www.asme.org/shop/product-update-notifications). 2019 Ohio Fire Academy Course Catalog Now Available The 2019 Ohio Fire Academy Course Catalog is now available online. More than 100 on-campus offerings are current-ly available for 2019, including 23 fire service courses for firefighters, fire inspectors, and of-ficers; eight EMS courses to help meet Ohio EMT and paramedic renewal requirements; 63 professional development courses; 26 fire pre-vention courses, and more. The Ohio Fire Academy (OFA) offers various ways to deliver high-quality training and educa-

Since the start of 2018, the OFA has provided 1,177 separate course offerings, training 8,524 firefighters both on and off campus. On January 26th, The Ohio Board of Building Standards sponsored training on the 2017 Ohio Building, Plumbing and Mechanical Code Up-dates.
