Day 1 - Depart USA Depart New York for Italy. Meals andrefreshments served on board.Day 2 - Rome/Sorrento Upon arrival proceed to baggage claim.After clearing customs, you will be met by our local representativeand transferred to your hotel in Sorrento, an attractive seaside townat the center of the Amalfi Coast. In the afternoon, enjoy a walkingorientation tour of Sorrento. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (D)Day 3 – Sorrento This morning, leave Sorrento for a full day ofsightseeing on the Amalfi Coast. Brief stop at the Sorrento Belvedereto enjoy a unique view of Moorish architecture blended with pastelcolored houses and to take pictures of this unforgettable site. Thencontinue to Amalfi for a walking tour of the old village and finallyreach Ravello. Enjoy lunch on your own at a restaurant withspectacular views of the Amalfi Coast and the Bay of Salerno. Enjoytime for a stroll around the center of town before returning toSorrento. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day 5 – Sorrento – Optional tour of Naples Full day at leisure ortake an optional tour to Naples. You will be taken on a city tour thatwill highlight the beauty of this uniquely amazing city. Located inthe shadow of Mt. Vesuvius, Naples dates back 2,800 years. Todayit is the third-most populated city in Italy, with some 1 millionresidents. Discover an age-old city dotted with Medieval, Baroqueand Renaissance-era churches and castles. Feel its energyeverywhere – in the traffic, the noise, the music, the performingarts, and in the people's deep love for and pride in their city and intheir fervent religious devotion. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.(B,D)Day 6 – Sorrento Morning at leisure for some shopping atboutiques along the main street and the small "vicoli" of Sorrento.Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, depart the hotel to learn aboutan important part of the local economy as we visit the Farm Houseof Galatea. This farm was established over four generations. Usingtraditional and biological methods where they cultivate natural andtypical products such as Sorrento lemons, on the typicalSorrentinian terraces. Here we will learn about Italian cooking aswe enjoy a cooking lesson, dinner, as well as sampling the vibrantyellow liquor - Limoncello. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)Day 7 – Sorrento – Optional tour to Salerno and Paestum Fullday at leisure or take an optional tour to Salerno and Paestum. Thisoptional tour will be to the lively port town of Salerno. Duringmedieval times the town’s medical school was among the mostadvanced. In recent history, Salerno was the site of the Alliedlanding in September 1942. Continue to Paestum, one of the bestcollections of Greek temples in Western Europe, and see the 2000year old Doric Temples. Next, visit a “Mozzarella di Bufala” factoryto learn about the Mozzarella making process, and to sample someof it. Return to Sorrento. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant withlive music and overnight at the hotel. (B,D)Day 8 – Sorrento/Rome Today you will be leaving Sorrento forRome, the “Eternal City”. Along the way we stop and tour Pompeii.No visit to southern Italy would be complete without a visit to theunique ruins of Pompeii. Explore the ancient city covered by volcanicdust from Mt Vesuvius in AD 79, and see the excavated remains ofthe Forum, thermal baths, Lupanare and Vetti's House. Once wearrive to Rome, the rest of the day is at leisure. Italy’s renownedcapital city is a constant among “top ten” lists of places to visit.Rome welcomes, embraces, and captivates travelers at every turn.Soak in the Italian culture as you stroll past Roman ruins, absorbthe impressive architecture, and explore everything from Imperialtemples to early-Christian churches, medieval bell towers, baroquebasilicas and playful piazzas.
