1 Outline of the Congress The Asia Flutists Federation (AFF) was established in April 2008 by Japan, China, and Korea. The aim of the organization is the improvement of performance standards for flutists, and the deepening of friendships between flutists in the Asian region and all the people who love the flute by providing an opportunity for collaboration and interaction with each other. In recent years, the improvement of performance standards for young flutists who live in this region has been astonishing. Regardless of their professional level, AFF contributes to their studies through various activities. At this Congress, about 100 Flutists from Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore will play pieces from all genres of the flute including solo, chamber music, ensemble, flute orchestra and concerto works. In addition, AFF will provide lectures, master classes, instruction for young people and amateur players, and other various contributions through social activities. Performances include not only the typical flute, but also the piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute, and the flauto traverso. The flutists will play together with the harpsichord, piano and the Kobe City Chamber Orchestra. We encourage all the flute lovers to participate in this congress. The marvelous experience of music is waiting for you.
