Enjoyment, Perseverance, Self-Belief 13 th March 2020 (24) Dear Parents and Carers, I hope you feel reassured that as a school we are acting on advice given from the World Health Organisation. This week, I thought I would send you the schools action plan, so you are able to see what we have put in place. We will continue to update you daily with any new information we get. Thank you! I would like to thank all the parents who have kindly donated gifts from our ‘Wish List’ which have now been shared across the classes. We have received £2729.00, which has helped buy additional cleaning materials this week, so thank you. Below is a picture of all the gifts received. Eversley School Pupils Act of Kindness! Some of our children in 4E (Matilda, Shanaya, Bella, Maria and Carter) wanted to raise some money for the school, so they decided to have a shop outside one of their homes. They have raised £37.00 which they are going to use to buy resources for the school. They had lots of fun whilst raising money. Well done girls! EPSA Quiz Night Thank you to EPSA and all the parents and staff who attended the Quiz Night. I heard it was a great night and lots of fun! The night also raised over £1400.00, which will help support the school buying resources. Thank you once again to EPSA for organising such great events. Forest School We are really lucky at Eversley Primary School to have such an amazing Forest School, which is taught by Mrs Turner and Anna. This has been recognised by the Director of Education – Peter Nathan, who is promoting our Forest School for other professionals across the Local Authority to come and see. Thank you Mrs Turner and Anna for doing such a great job!

Football Team

A massive congratulations to our Eversley girls' football team who won the Premier League Primary Stars tournament for Tottenham Hotspur! This was a competition open to every school in Enfield and Haringey and the girls proved themselves to be the best football team out of both North London boroughs. We are so proud of all of them for this incredible achievement!

Nicole, Niamh, Shyla, Millie, Lily, Elisia, Eva and Erin always demonstrate excellent values of team work, cooperation, reliance and determination in every game they play and thoroughly deserve the opportunity to play in a national tournament at Watford FC's Vicarage Road Stadium in May. The girls met first team players Troy Parrott and Oliver Skipp and were awarded their trophy by former England and Spurs captain Ledley King. They are one of the best and most successful football teams anyone has ever seen and they have really done our school proud so far this year!

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe. Best wishes Samantha Williams Headteacher

3OS Forest School Story Cafe This week was 3OS's turn to embrace the mud in their Forest School Story Cafe. Parents and children worked together to create Hapa Zome butterflies, friendship bracelets and caterpillar marshmallows, and had fun engaging in lots of other outdoor activities including the rope swing, mud kitchen and making willow rainbows. Thank you to everybody who was able to attend - we had a wonderful morning exploring the great outdoors!

3SS Forest School On Thursday afternoon 3SS returned to Oakwood Park for a very different adventure. Instead of heavy rain, we basked in glorious spring sunshine. We ventured to the woodland area of the park and the children lead their own learning. Without any instruction they

began working on various different projects including bug hunting, shelter building, tree climbing, hammock fun, building fairy houses and whittling to make wands and weapons. The children were supported by our fantastic forest school team including Susan, Anna, Sayuri, Ilknur, Helen, Shel and Keith. The children really enjoyed the freedom of working in teams to create their own nature project as well as having lots of fun and laughs along the way!! What a great session 3SS! (Mrs Turner & the Forest School Team)

Nightingale Forest School This week Nightingale class discovered Stickman lying in the fire. They were concerned he might burn so they rescued him and learnt about how to stay safe around fire including making a fire square, using the respect position, as well as having a fire blanket and water at the ready. We explored why we use fire and the many benefits, as well as the dangers and risks involved. The children then

practised using a fire steel to light a small piece of cotton wool. At the end of the session we made a small fire to toast marshmallows which was very popular! (Mrs Turner & the Forest School Team)

3P Story Cafe As 3P had their story cafe last week they missed out on the pond dipping, but in actual fact they really lucked out. We not only enjoyed the glorious Spring sunshine but we were also treated to witnessing the frog lifecycle up close, first hand. The children were fascinated by watching the mating frogs and the masses of frog spawn. Although this was a highlight we also discovered lots of water boatman, water fleas, diving beetles, freshwater hoglouses and various

different types of larvae. The children were enthusiastic and a pleasure to take to Oakwood Park! Well done 3P! Special thanks to the support of Anna, Julia, Sayuri and Sarah.

ParentZone On Friday 6th March, ParentZone came into school to deliver an internet safety Assembly on behalf of Google. Our local MP Bambos Charalambous attended the assembly and really enjoyed seeing how engaged the children were. We were lucky enough to host this assembly and we hope to work with

Google in the near future to provide further E-Safety lessons. Thank you to all of the adults who helped the event run smoothly.

Young Voices For many years Year 6 Eversley children have sung with the Young Voices Choir at the 02 arena in London. Next year they are celebrating 25 years of concerts. We thought you might enjoy this video they have put

together. We are already looking forward to the 2021 concert! https://youtu.be/bMhHRV_l-68 (Mrs Evans)

House Point Winners this week are

One of the areas the school is working hard to improve is the attendance of children at Eversley Primary School. The United Nation Convention on the rights of the child entitles them to a Right to Education (Article 28). If the attendance drops below 95%, this could potentially affect any future Ofsted judgement, as well as

children missing vital learning which reduces their chances of success. Please help us to continue the upward trend by ensuring your child comes to school every day and on time.

The overall school attendance to date is 96.38%
