I have chosen four significant album covers that have caught my eye to have a hidden message behind them. Ed's debut single is a surprisingly dark affair which was inspired by the singer-songwriter's performance and visit to a homeless shelter back at the age of 18.

'Drunk' is a sombre song which tells of someone unable to cope with the end of a relationship so instead they drink to forget about it.

Ed's latest single release 'Small Bump' is an emotional song written about the painful experience and feeling of losing a baby during pregnancy.

Ed is a very personal and creative artists, he wants to portray his personality and emotions through songs and lyrics. The album ‘+’ he wanted show him as a person and artist, this is why he created the album around the colour of orange as he is a ginger and wanted to embrace this, as this is a distinctive characteristic that the public remember him for.

In Kendrick Lamar’s still-young reign as one of hip-hop's biggest artists, he's tackled racism, black self-love, addiction and the materialism. This has caused him to create significant songs and as shown below, momentous album covers. This factor is definitely shown through the album of ‘To Pimp a Butterfly.’

The photo is possibly another example of Lamar's belief that black community needs to reassess its own values before it can hope to see an end to institutionalized racism.

The figure of the dead white judge in the foreground is a clear nod to the justice system, which Lamar has addressed explicitly many times since Ferguson.

But Lamar's view of race and racism in this country is nuanced, he wanted to portray his views and concerns through his music. This is shown on his single, "The Blacker the Berry," proving that his album is going to tackle some massive questions.

It’s a child version of myself starring at myself now. When I try to think back through this journey, it’s so hard to pinpoint all these moments and it gets foggy. Even on past albums when I been trying to tell this story, I’ve got there, but maybe not got there all the way.

Drake stated “What that album art is to me is that this is my most clear, concise thoughts from now and my best recollection of then.”

These two albums show a contrast from Drakes past to his future. The songs represent his memories as lyrics shown throughout the various songs within this album.

Drake wanted to show his life in music from his young years to his present day songs. The two albums show the baby Drake looking up in the footsteps to his older self yet also shows him wanting to go back to the younger him.
