Texas State head coach Dennis Franchione

On how the team responded after USM loss.“Oh I think like they should. They were disap-pointed. They took the challenges that were before them and that’s the way it has to be.

On Tyler Jones’ career performance against USM.“He played really well, he played really hard, and he left everything out there. He had three or four plays that he’d like to have over again, a misread or two here or there, but all in all he put a lot on his shoulders and gave us a chance to have a few more points than them in a high scoring game.”

On familiar faces on the Houston coaching staff.“They know a lot about our personnel, obvi-ously and we just have to be careful about how we handle things this week in practice and all of the different things leading up to the game plan on Saturday.”

Players

Texas State wide receiver Jafus GainesOn the improvement of the team from when they played Houston back in 2012. “I would say that we have made a great improvement. The guys we have in here now have a lot more confidence. We know the sys-tem better versus when we first started. I feel like overall we bond better together and we play better as a unit and that’s all we need. This is a way better Houston team than the first time we played them. I’m just excited for the competition and ready for this Saturday.”
