LibGuides Service Description The goal of LibGuides is to supplement the libraries web-presence with a learner focused website, which connects the learner to resources and services that match their learning objective. The strategy to meet this goal includes content, access, and collaborative partners. About the Content 1. Guides are expert-created webpages designed to connect learners to resources and services to meet the learner’s objectives. a. Class Guides connects learners with resources and services to help complete a specific assignment. These are for a specific class at the university. b. Research Guides help learners grasp the domain of discipline-based resources available. c. Topical Guides give a learner insight to resources and services based on an idea or concept not directly tied to a field of study or degree program; or it might be related to a current event and temporary in nature. 2. A-Z Database List is a searchable list of all the Libraries databases. To connect learners with their objective, the list can be sorted alphabetically, by vendor, by subject, or by type as identified by an expert. 3. Subject Homepages automatically gather in one webpage all the guides, databases, and experts associated with a subject for a learner’s ease of use. LibGuides Service Description

The goal of LibGuides is to supplement the libraries web-presence with a learner focused website, which connects the learner to resources and services that match their learning objective. The strategy to meet this goal includes content, access, and collaborative partners.

About the Content

1. Guides are expert-created webpages designed to connect learners to resources and services to meet the learner’s objectives.

a. Class Guides connects learners with resources and services to help complete a specific assignment. These are for a specific class at the university.

b. Research Guides help learners grasp the domain of discipline-based resources available. c. Topical Guides give a learner insight to resources and services based on an idea or

concept not directly tied to a field of study or degree program; or it might be related to a current event and temporary in nature.

About Access and Partners

Texas A&M LibGuides homepage: The website needs a homepage where learners are able to connect to resources and services that match their learning objective. The LibGuides team in collaboration with the Libraries’ web designer should accomplish this task.

Libraries website: The LibGuides Team, the Libraries’ webteam, and the Interface Design Team need to integrate the content of the Texas A&M LibGuides system appropriate points within the Libraries main CMS (currently Cascade).

Learning Management Systems: The LibGuides Team’s goal is for guides to be easily integrated with campus LMS (Blackboard). The LibGuides site design needs to take this into consideration. The LibGuides Team will collaborate with on campus Instructional Technology Services. To accomplish this integration.

EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS): The LibGuides Team will work with the Interface Design Team to index guides in EDS. The team will seek and provide additional recommendations about point of need assistance provided within EDS.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): The LibGuides Team will collaborate with the Libraries’ web designer to best optimize the site for search engines.
