The TR - AS transient - recorder was calibrated by Accreditation laboratoryDKD - K - 11701 Germany, with calibration certificate 275 of 10ftSept.2002 and checked before beginning of measurement with KAL 1000calibrator.Expanded uncertainty of measurements parameter inside of limits, prescribedby IEC 60060 - 2 I 1994 for SI Approved Measuring Systems (3 % for peakvalues and 10 oÄfor time parameters).

The lightning conductor tested is put on a 5 x 5 m grounded metallic plane andconnected to ground.A square metallic plane, dimensions: 4.5 m | 4.5 m I 0.2 m with the edgesrounded, is suspended above the lightning conductor and connected the highvoltage.

7. Test nrocedure

The DC polarization of the upper plane is adjusted on the square metallic plane.The negative impulse wave is adjusted in order to obtain a flashover.The height of the lightning conductor (h) and the distance between the ground and thesquare plane (H) are measured at the beginning of each test.The atmospheric conditions taken before and after each test.The peak value (Up) of the impulses and the triggering time (Ts) are recorded at eachimpulse.One hundred significant impulses are applied on the lightning conductor.The early streamer emission lightning conductor (ESELC) is to be compared with asimple rod lightning conductor (SRLC). Tests are performed is the same conditionsand configuration for each lightning conductor.The simple rod lightning conductor (SRLC) was simulated by short circuiting of theSchirtec - DA ESELC.The test on SRLC (100 significant impulses) was performed in two series and circledby the test on the ESELC.Heiglrt of lightning conductor (h) adjusted to: 1042 mmDistance between ground / square plane (H) adjusted to: 2200 mmh I H. 0.47Polarization voltage: 55 kVFront time of the full wave: 487 psTime interval between consecutive impulses: > I rnin
