    trees are in full bloom and theGroundhog says its Spring, Camp Pisgah

    has opened all units for our troops to

    come and enjoy. GSCP2P said it best:

    The French Broad River, the 3rd oldest river in the world, is an excellentsite for water adventures such as fishing, rafting, paddling and tubingfor all experience levels. Public access points at Champion Park(Rosman), Island Ford Road, Hap Simpson Park (off 276 South) andWilson Road (off Old Hwy 64).

    If you are interested in a waterfall to slide down, Sliding Rock is a 60-degree natural rock slide with a 6-7 ft deep pool at the base. Foryour safety, lifeguards and staff are on duty.

    When you come with your troop to Camp Pisgah for the weekend, you will quickly find that there is plenty to explore outside the

    parameters of camp. Sure you can spend time at the lake, or walking our trails, or swimming in the pool, or practicing your archeryskills. But if you want to have some high octane fun outside our borders, then check out these local offerings...

    If you are interested in hiking and/or cycling adventures, there are severaltrails conveniently located near Camp Pisgah for your hiking pleasure. Hikingand bicycling trails are available at DuPont State Park, Pisgah NationalForest, and throughout Transylvania County. Trail maps available online.

    There is a reason Transylvania County is known as the Land of

    Waterfalls! This county has the highest concentration of waterfalls

    in North America. So famous, the DuPont State Forest was one ofthe film locations for the movie The Hunger Games. View thewaterfalls at DuPont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest or thesurrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.

    Chimney Rock State Park offers a 404-ft waterfall, hiking, bird-watching, rock climbing and more. Gorges State Park offers morewaterfalls, rare and unique species, sheer rock walls and ruggedriver gorges. Hap Simpson and Champion Parks are local, publicparks providing typical outdoor recreation, as well as access to theFrench Broad River. In addition, feel free to enjoy the playground,play tennis or basketball, swim in a full sized pool, and dine at thepicnic shelter at Champion Park.

    The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education explores NorthCarolinas mountain wildlife and habitats. The Center offersspecialized classes if youre interested in specific wildlife

    species, exploring the natural world through hands-oninvestigations, or learning to fly fish. Classes may be reservedup to 3 months in advance.

    PARI is a not-for-profit foundation dedicated toproviding hands-on educational and research

    opportunities for a broad cross-section of users inscience, technology, engineering and math (STEM)disciplines. The Institute offers public programs

    and tours, as well as workshops for all scientificenthusiasts.

    A tradition since 1942, Rockys Grill & Soda Shop is a Brevard,

    NC landmark. Step into Americana and belly up to the lunchcounter for homemade food and dairy delights. Youre never too

    I am from the Future where energy isunlimited which is why my name is (theenergizer) Bunny. Eating too much of myfavorite foods cause my hair to change color.Some of my favorite activities are timetravelling, sports, reading, listening to musicand learning new languages. This summer Iwill be a Unit Leader and Lifeguard.

    Girl Scout since I was 4 years

    old, and I love everything

    outdoorsy! If I could spend all

    of my time outdoors, I would.

    My favorite things in the world

    are Harry Potter, hammocking,

    making movies, and traveling!

    Heres a fun fact: I can make a

    roaring fire in less than 5 minutes! Maybe Ill

    teach you how this summer!

    Heyyy! My name is Asia and I am going to be a Unit Assistant this summer! Iam from Asheville, NC and currently a rising Senior. My favorites are Lions,italian food, dill pickles, and the color red. I love to play sports and all sortsof games. I enjoy meeting new people and I know this summer is going to beamazing!
