Terminology Term Definition Example Point Of Attack/POA The area where the play is designed for the ball to cross the LOS. Line of Scrimmage/LOS An imaginary transverse line crossing the football field across its narrower dimension, beyond which a team cannot cross until the next play has begun marked by the football. Attackside/Playside Attackside/Playside refers to the side of the line where the point of attack (POA) is. Attackside 0 0 0 X 0 0 0 POA Backside The side of the line away from the point of attack (POA). The Center is neither Attackside or Backside. Zone Scheme where the OL blocks a Zone/Area and not a specific player

Splits The space between Offensive Lineman usually 12-36 inches.

Box The area between the LOS and Linebacker depth from OT-to-OT or Ot-TE or TE-to-TE

Level One Area that identifies the down lineman on the defensive side of the LOS

Level Two Area beyond Level One that identifies Linebackers on the defensive side of the LOS

Level Three Area beyond Level Two that identifies Secondary Players on the defensive side of the LOS

Combo Block A blocking combination by 2 Offensive Lineman

ACE Combo A combo block between the Center and Guard

DEUCE Combo A combo block between the Guard And Tackle

TREY Combo A combo block between the Tackle and Tight End
