Dear Parents And Friends Of St Paul’s, Confirmation Year 6 candidate will receive the sacrament of Confirmation next Friday at St Paul’s Church at 7pm The candidates have been well prepared and participated in many activities:
Bishop Curtin visited our year 6 confirmation candidates yesterday. Bishop Curtin spoke to the students about the chrism oil, the gifts of the holy spirit and the meaning behind receiving the sacrament. He said the students were very well prepared. He joined staff for morning tea. Thank you to Cathy (Sian, Samara & Leon’s mum) for donating some delicious morning tea.
Confirmation Retreat: The Confirmation Candidates participated in a retreat today at the Mary MacKillop Centre in the city. The students spent time reflecting on the sacrament.
Confirmation Family evening This evening families will spend time reflecting on the sacrament as a family.
This is a special time for our families, their children and the St Paul’s Parish community. Please keep the Year 6 candidates in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and continue their journey in their faith development. Celebrating the sacraments is also a good time for families to take time to reflect and renew their commitment of what it means to be part of a Catholic community. A big thank you to Father Ray and teachers Joe Keane (Religious Education Leader) Mrs Simpson, Miss Moore. Mr Brohman and Mrs Tasker, for their preparation of the children and their many contributions in making this such a
special occasion.
Please keep these students in your prayers as they prepare to receive this Sacrament
Sausage Sizzle/Hamburger Day Thank you to our dedicated team who cook lunches for our students rain hail or shine. We need some more helpers. If you would like to help out please see Donna Ervin

Intentions for 2019 It’s that time of year when we are starting to plan for 2019. If your child is not returning to St Paul’s in 2019 (other than year 6), please let us know in writing via email to [email protected]
Carpark Safety It has been bought to my attention that some parents are not driving as safely as they could in the carpark and surrounding area. Please be extra vigilant with pedestrians while driving during drop off and pick up times.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY NEWS
A big thank you to Bashir Assouni who came to our rescue during the school holidays by removing a
large amount of ‘junk’ which had been hiding under the school stairs!!
We now have much more room to store more important things, like Fathers’ Day gifts.
Please watch this space as in the following week we will acknowledge all our volunteers in the
school—your support and hard work makes St Paul’s a vibrant community.
FUNDRAISING NEWS This term in week 5 and 10 we are replacing Subway Lunch with Hamburgers. You can
choose burgers with meat pattie, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Orders can be made via
the St Paul’s online store.
Wednesday’s sausage sizzle is still proving to be very popular. Thank you to
the dedicated team of mum’s who’s efforts are making this a great success.
Thank you!!
Ms Donna
Well done St Paul’s students! We are only a month away until the Challenge closes and the amount of reading our students have achieved has been amazing! Our book tally for this week is 2,273 books filled with loads of adventures. We still have students signing up for the Challenge. These students are recording the books they have read since the start of the year which have been written up in their reading log. It’s still not too late to join! Forms are available at the office. Congratulations to the following awesome readers who have recently completed the Challenge.
These students will receive their certificates at Monday’s assembly.
Mrs Angela Gangi, Reading Challenge Co-ordinator
Monday July 23rd, three representatives from the Moonee Ponds Youth Resource Unit attended Saint Paul’s Primary School and deliv-ered the ThinkUKnow cyber safety presentation to Grades 3/4 and 5/6 students. Students were informed about how the internet is used, why unidentifiable usernames and passwords are essential to maintaining pri-vacy and security and why adult supervision and permission is important before signing up to apps and websites. There were conversa-tions around online gaming, cyberbullying, respectful language and talking to people online. The ThinkUKnow program also has a specific adult presentation for parents, carers and teachers. We hosted this presentation earlier this year and the presentation is designed to ensure adults receive commentary information to assist them in communicating with chil-dren and young people about the technology they use. We recommend the following ‘cybersafe’ websites to students and families:
eSafety Office
The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is committed to empowering all Australians to have safer, more positive experiences online, please visit www.esafety.gov.au.
ThinkUKnow ThinkUKnow is a free, evidence-based cyber safety program that provides accessible cyber safety education to parents, carers and teachers through schools and organisations across Australia. For more information, please visit http://www.thinkuknow.org.au
Cybersafety Solutions A comprehensive independent site providing cyber support and resources for schools and families. http://www.cybersafetysolutions.com.au
Student Feedback Lucas from Senior M "I learnt a lot about anti-bullying things and also about cyber safety. I understand that now if you are getting cyber bullied, all you have to do is tell someone and the police can track them. The police officers were very informative and used language that young children can understand."
3/4B We thoroughly enjoyed session, it reminded us to be safe on the internet. They taught us how to change our passwords and make it difficult for others to hack into personal accounts. The police gave us procedures to follow if we are being bullied. We now know that our parents should supervise us while we are playing games such as Minecraft and Fortnite and other apps. There is a legal age that we weren’t aware of that you are allowed to go on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.
3/4K We loved attending the “ThinkUKnow” presentation delivered by Victoria Police. We learnt that we should not talk to people we
haven’t met online and not include identifying information about ourselves in our passwords, usernames or profile pictures.
