News from the Primary Room

Year 3-6 are enjoying studying the novel Birrung the

Secret Friend. Jackie French's latest story is the first book in the Secret Histories series based on the life

of an Aboriginal girl brought up by the Rev Johnson,

the colony's first Chaplin. The book is set in 1790 in Port Jackson. It

sensitively portrays a number of relationships between indigenous and non indigenous Australians.

The students are enjoying this book and it is preparing us well for NAIDOC week.

Also pictured are our newest Aboriginal Education

Resources. Mrs Nell
