Welcome Back It was great to see lots of smiling faces happy to be back at school. All classes and programs have resumed. Students will be working with their normal class teachers and participating in non-contact sport and the kitchen-garden program. Unfortunately, we are unable to have parents coming into school at this time and this includes when holding whole school events. We will inform the community when we are able to have visitors in our school again. Please organise a meeting point to meet your child at the end of the school day. If you are needing to come into the office please wait outside if there is already someone being served.

Social Distancing School students do not need to follow physical distancing guidelines, but we will continue to practice good hygiene practices like:

• Regularly washing hands

• Avoiding sharing drinks or food

• Coughing or sneezing into elbows or tissues.

• Regular cleaning of high touch areas will continue throughout the day in toilets, classrooms and admin area.

School Photos We have rescheduled our school photos for Term 3. All money and orders will be rolled over. If you still have not placed your order please do so as soon as possible.

P&C Meeting There will be a P&C meeting in the staffroom on Monday 1st June at 6pm. We will be limited 10 people at the physical meeting. However, we will be running a zoom meeting if you would like to join remotely. Please ring and let the office know if you would like to join and we can send out the meeting invite.

Communication Teachers will return to fulltime teaching this week so will be unable to answer seesaw messages straight away. Please message your classroom teacher and they will contact you when they are off class. Teachers should not be contacted via seesaw after 5pm.

Canteen Unfortunately, the canteen/breakfast club will remain closed until further notice. The opening date will be discussed at the next P&C meeting. Students will need to have fruit break, recess, lunch and a water bottle every day.

Reports We have now received guidelines about reporting from the Department of Education. School reports will look a little different this semester and there will be no A-E grades. Reports will be sent home to parents Term 3 in Week 4 to allow for teachers to do some more observations of their students.

Ruby Church RELIEVING PRINCIPAL

This Week’s Focus

Respectful – We take care of all property Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a school wide program that encourages positive behaviour to improve academic and social outcomes for all students. At Alma Public School, we are focused on our three core values – Respectful, Responsible and Resilient.

This week’s focus is: Be respectful by taking care of all property. Taking care of property means we treat items with care. This includes our own items, other people’s items and school property. It would be appreciated if you could discuss, with your child, the importance of taking care of property at home and school. Examples of this include:

· Keeping your stationery in working order . Pick up your lunchbox, drink bottle and jumper after play · Placing your school bag down gently · Making your bed and putting your toys away

Year 6 into Year 7 Expression of Interest Forms: Overdue

Students in Year 6 were given a ‘Year 6 moving into Year 7 in a NSW Government School’ booklet and ‘Expression of Interest’ application form last term. There are still a number of forms that have not been returned. It is essential that these forms are returned as soon as possible as the information provided is required to assist the high schools with planning for 2021.

Family Information Sheets: Due as soon as possible

Family Information sheets are distributed at the start of each year to be completed and returned to school for the purpose of updating the school’s records so immediate contact can be made in the case of an emergency. The information provided by you ensures all other details and permission responses are also current. A Family Information sheet has been sent home to families who remain outstanding. If you receive a form, please complete both sides and return to school as soon as possible, along with any new or updated health care plans and court orders if applicable.

Individual Health Care Plans: Due as soon as possible

We are currently reviewing Individual Health Care Plans for students with existing medical conditions requiring care at school. Plans that have been updated have been sent home to parents. Please check, sign and return the plan to school as soon as possible.

Sibling orders are available online (online orders no later than 25 August) or envelopes can be collected from the office. The office will be closed before 9am on photo day for staff photos.
