About Department of ChemistryThe Department of Chemistry NIT- Jalandhar is one of the sixteen Departments of theInstitute. The coherent, cohesive and homely environment of the Department isattributed to the students, faculty and staff with tremendous potential andopportunities to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. TheDepartment started functioning in 1989 for teaching undergraduate (B.Tech.) students.M.Sc. and Ph.D. Programs were initiated in July 2006. Department is striving to emergeas a premier Centre of Chemistry teaching and research of the country. Within a spanof fourteen years of commencement of post graduate classes, the Department hasachieved results which reflect upon the growth pattern of the Department. TheDepartment has organized several International and National Conferences, Short TermCourses to grow the academic collaborations and to give exposure to our students. TheDepartment has also been selected as 'DST-FIST' sponsored Department.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSEThe main objectives of the course are:• Participants will learn basics of intellectual property rights with special reference
to Indian Laws and its practices and about their rights for the protection of theirinvention done
• Participants will get an overview of the statutory, procedural, and case lawunderlining these processes and their interplay with litigation.
• Participants will be able to compare and contrast the different forms of intellectualproperty protection in terms of their key differences and similarities.
• Participants will learn about the implications of IPR in Research, development andcommercialization.
• Participants will learn how to get registration in our country and foreign countriesof their invention, designs and thesis or theory and for this they must haveknowledge of patents, copy right, trademarks, designs and information TechnologyAct.
