This year a phonics-based literacy program,

Read Write Inc (RWI), is being implemented in Primary 1. The program uses synthetic phonics as a foundation to strengthen students’ English language competency. It integrates

the teaching of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and helps students learn English more effectively. In addition, it also adopts a systematic and

comprehensive approach to teaching skills and grammar knowledge with lively resources that enhance students’ experience and foster their interest in learning English.

W o r d s a r e t h e m o m e n t o u s components in Chinese learning that

enhance students’ reading and writing. To cultivate students’ Chinese learning, a Literacy

Program is being conducted for Primary One students in this academic year. Students are tutored in small group settings and are offered a variety of additional learning opportunities such as big book reading and card games. We are working to improve students’ literacy skills in

Chinese reading and writing. Last but not least, students’ interest in Chinese learning can be aroused through this program.

Results of the 63rd HK Schools Speech Festival

Poetry is the creativity of a person’s imagination and it is also a very important literary form that is frequently explored. The Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival provides a platform for our students to read and appreciate poetry and to share their learning with others. Benefits of reading poetry are not confined to the awards and certificates as poetry can introduce the young mind to the magic of language and encourage them to explore its possibilities. It enables them to explore the beauty, sound, rhythm, and depth of individual words, and gives them a hint of the broad range of language. In short, poetry has a direct appeal to one’s heart and remains in the memory easily.

We’re the trophy winners!

Brownie Overnight Camp 2011

This year’s overnight camp was held on 25th & 26th

November. The weather was good and we could have our BBQ and games outdoors. In the camp, the Brownies had different kinds

of duties such as preparing, cooking and cleaning. They learned how to make their own desserts. All

of them behaved well and displayed their independence.

In order to enjoy a wonderful evening performance, the Brownies shared ideas amongst each other and tried very hard during practice to achieve this goal. All of them had gained an unforgettable

experience by the end of the trip.

We enjoy the outdoor games under the sunshine.

We prepare lunch by ourselves!

We really enjoy our overnight camping during those two days.

2011-12 Kowloon West Inter-school Soccer Competition

Forthcoming Events

The school campus was full of Christmas atmosphere once it was surrounded by the Christmas decorations and songs. Students were extremely excited to decorate their own classrooms and prepare for the Christmas party and fun fair which was held on 22nd December 2011.

Students wore cultural costumes and brought food and snacks to share with their classmates on that day. They enjoyed playing the games in the game booths. Additionally, students could make snowflakes by themselves or experience henna painting. Most of the students were eager to take photos with their friends as well. Every student received and admired their presents with lovely and cheerful faces. All students enjoyed a wonderful and unforgettable celebration.
