7. PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY SPECIFICATION
7.1. USER INTERFACE User interface can be fully defined via goHapi tool running on internet using firefox browser (https://go-hapi.honeywell.com ). For this reason product specification does not define any specific user interface functionality. Example of standard proposed user interface can be found in Appendix A
7.2. BACKLIGHT Lcd BACKLIGHT led are switched on any time a button is pressed and are switched off after 300 seconds last button has been pressed. In case of error backlight is permanently on.
7.3. PUSH-BUTTON USAGE Buttons are defined with a matrix approach of 3 rows/4 column. Specific button functionality can be determined via goHapi tool where each button is addressed with RxCy (x=1-3; y=1-4) selection. In set-up menu some specific functions like Enter, up-down, … can be assigned to some specific button The first column (C1 left column) is typically called a contextual button column since function of such a buttons is dynamically indicated on the LCD screen. Below is an example of possible keypad using all 12 buttons.
8. High voltage Output Dot matrix display has 2 relay independent closing contact that can be used as high voltage output. By default they are used for:

- Rly 1: Close when esys/maxsys CH pump is running - Rly 2: CH Heat demand ON indicator
9. Low Voltage input (AUX 0) Dot matrix display has 1 low voltage input contact that can be used as general purpose input. By default it is used as CH demand signal
10. High Voltage Input Via goHapi is possible to select the usage of high voltage input between 2 different functionalities:
- CH demand - Lockout reset
11. 0-10Vdc input Dot matrix uses the analog value present on 0-10V input to generate a CH power demand proportional to this value. An analog value below 2Vdc force a CH off status (removal of heat demand) while any other value from 2 till 10Vdc generate a CH request with power demand linearly proportional to analog value. Activation of CH heat demand via 0-10V is done via user interface.
12. Microcomm Bus Master Communication
The MMI is a master in the esys/maxsys communication. This is the highest priority communication interface for the MMI. The supported ID’s (application layer) are listed in Appendix B. There will be three levels of communication priority for this. The Highest-level is communication loop that is continuously communicated. A Normal-level message is communicated once every Highest-level communication loop was finished. A Low-level message is communicated once every Normal-level communication loop was finished. A special level will also be included. Messages at this level will only be communicated once at startup.
The MMI uses the Microprocessor’s hardware USART at a speed of 19200 Baud, 8-bit Data, 1 start-bit en 1 stop-bit for Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) of serial data. Further specification for the protocol is done in the document “External Communication Class 1..6” [ERE2038.doc
13. Microcomm Bus Slave Communication
The goHapi dot matrix provide a slave microcomm communication for external control . This will normally be used to connect master devices like a Personal Computer through a PC CVBC Communication cable to the MMI. It is also used to access the connected Esys/Maxsys family product, therefore functioning in such a case as a “Bridge”. The supported ID’s (application layer) are listed in appendix B. Microcomm communication is 19.2 baud UART , 8-bit Data, 1 start-bit, 1 stop-bit for Receive (Rx) and Transmit (Tx) of serial data. Further specification for the protocol is done in the document “External Communication Class 1..6” [ERE2038.doc.
14. OpenTherm Communication Requirements
The MMI is a slave in the OpenTherm Communication. This is used to connect OpenTherm Master devices for Remote control of the MMI and connected esys/maxsys family products. The supported ID’s (application layer) are listed in Appendix C.

15. Modbus interface Details of Modbus functionality and content of ID are contained in appendix D of this document
16. Outside Temperature Control
The MMI will convert the Analog/Digital conversion result to the corresponding temperature.
Via specific goHapi selection OTC algorithm can be choosen between 2 possible options:
16.1.1. 4 POINTS OTC CURVE Via user interface Is possible to set the following values that determine the OTC curve and therefore the actual boiler setpoint during CH request:
A - Otc_offset: this is the minimum CH setpoint value
B - Otc setpoint maximum: this is the maximum CH setpoint value
C - Otc weather cold: this is the external temperature value at which the maximum CH setpoint will be used
D - Otc weather warm: this is the external temperature value at which the mminimum CH setpoint will be used
E - OTC warm weather shutdown: this is the external temperature value at which the CH heat demand will be removed/ignoired
Combining the above points CH actual setpoint will follow a line as indicated in the following figure:
16.1.2. HONEYWELL SIMPLIFIED OTC CURVE This is done trough a special lookup table between the limits of –30 to + 70 degrees Celsius. This is the standard used 8-bit lookup table.
The MMI calculate and use a Control Temperature Setpoint for Central Heating when an Outside Temperature Sensor is connected, The value of Control Setpoint is limited to the value of CH Setpoint set by User.
For calculating this Control Temperature Setpoint, the following calculation is done:
Control Temp. Setpoint = OTC Offset + C1 *(20 – Outside Temperature) / 4
Where:
C1 = derived from the OTC Curve number:
If OTC Curve number = 1..7 then C1 = OTC Curve number

Page. 13 / 45
If OTC Curve number = 8, then C1 = 9
If OTC Curve number = 9, then C1 = 12
If OTC Curve number = 10, then C1 = 18
The Control Temp. Setpoint is limited by Maximum value of CH user setpoint . The Esys CH User Setpoint is aligned with the maximum of the DSP temperature range.
For Outside Temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius, Control Temp. Setpoint =10`C.

17. ECO working mode ECO working mode can be selected via pushbutton. Whenever ECO mode is selected the following functions are implemented:
- CH mode. Boiler continue to run as per actual settings but CH temperature setpoint is reduced by a value equal to ECO setpoint. In case of OTC usage or modulating setpoint received from external the actual setpoint is reduced by the value equal to ECO setpoint. In case resulting setpoint is lower than minimum, actual setpoint will be limited to minimum
- DHW mode. Same as per CH but with DHW ECO setpoint acting on DHW value ECO mode is exited automatically via time switcher or if forced manually via pushbutton, after push of same ECO button. Eco mode is indicated by ECO icon on screen when manually activated or with a text ECO below Tap/Radiator when activated by scheduler otherwise defined via goHapi
18. HOLIDAY working mode Holiday mode is entered pressing holiday button on user interface. When button is pressed a request to indicate holiday start date and holiday end date is shown . When start date is reached (00:00 of that day) boiler adjust current CH and DHW setpoint accordly to Holiday setpoint value set in menus. When end date day expire

(24:00) boiler return to normal operation. This has to be consider to anticipate return of holiday in case home heating is required to start in advance.
19. goHAPI User interface data download Dot matrix display support goHapi functionality, used to download custom made user interface into product flash. Download is done via any serial communication package (ie hyperterminal) and standard cable connected to slave microcomm interface. To enable download press and hold for approx. 3 seconds simultaneously buttons C1-R2 (Column-Row) and C3-R2. This causes reset of the display and entering the “goHapi mode” - just at this moment buttons can be released. LCD is cleared and backlight starts blinking; at this point is possible to transfer .BIN file containing user interface description and setting. At the end of transfer display is reset and program start execute normally. Any blackout interrupts this mode leaving goHAPI part of flash data corrupted. After such unsuccessfull loading of data, the uplload mode has to be repeated with correct data file. If an inappropriate .BIN file is loaded into device, error E94 is show at the screen with comment: "HAPI mismatch, can't continue". Device is then resetted after 30 seconds waiting for correct file to be uploaded. Serial connection setting must be as follow:
- 19200 bps - Data bit 8 - Parity none - Stop bit 1 - Flow control None - Protocol XModem

21.3.14. SCHEDULER SETTING SCREEN Scheduler allow possibility to define working condition ranges during the day choosing between 3 status: ON, ECO, Off. Implementation allows to set 6 different ranges/status; the “empty” time between ranges is considered to be OFF, allowing therefore to extend the real number of ranges. Via up-down key Is possible to move between ranges while +-key will increase/decries the time of specific range (when in time area) or toggle working condition when in third column . Working condition toggling allow to select On mode: boiler is enabled; ECO mode: boiler will use reduced setpoint. To facilitate changes two additional possibilities are added to working mode selection: the first one is OFF mode that cancel also the time, in case user want to delete completely a scheduler line; second is off mode to disable the boiler but maintaining the indication of range selection (this to facilitate ie a temporary disable of boiler maintaining the scheduler set). Scheduler functionality is acting independently on CH and DHW, means each of them has is own scheduler. The status of scheduler is shown on main screen with then indication ON- ECO-OFF under tap/radiator. Scheduler set can be done for each day, for group of week days, for week-end days or for the entire week. When group of day is programmed and later a single day of that group is changed, opening the group of day screen will be cleared meaning that days are not anymore equals
