222 Remote Sensor Nea

Figure 2-3 Remote Sensor Nea

A Remote Sensor is optionally connected to the Remote Controller Nea HCT,which is suitable in special applications like as ground temperature sensorand for the measurement of the room temperature.

When used as a ground temperature sensor, it can:

-comply with the minimum or the maximum value of ground temperature inheating mode.

In these cases, the Room Controller Nea HCT works as a thermostat, regulating the temperature to match the selected setting. Due to the groundtemperature sensor, the temperatures of the ground and the room can becontrolled independently of each other. When the minimal heating of theground temperature is desired - for example in the bathroom - the groundheat output will be adjusted so that the desired ground temperature will beachieved without affecting the current room temperature.

It is possible to control and regulate the ground temperature without changingthe dominant room temperature.

An installed remote sensor can also be used, instead of the built-in controllersensor, to adjust the temperature controls.

23 Notes on planning

Depending on the controller type and the desired function, connection cablesare required with the following minimum number of wires:

HeatingHT

Without external timing 3With external timing 4

Please note: When connecting the Room Controller Nea, the PE wire (yellow-green) should not be used. The PE conductor is provided exclusively for thepurpose of protecting the line.

For the connection of the Room Controller Nea HT, a 4-wire cable is generally recommended (one wire for the external timing control is provided).

Recommended conductors

24 V1)

4-wire cable 5-wire cableup to 40 m cable length: at least 1 mm²up to 70 m cable length: at least 1.5 mm²

1) It is recommended to use rigid pipes also for the 24-V-System, since these can beeasily inserted into the plug without wire end terminals.

- The controller should be installed in the most commercially available recessed conduit boxes (DIN 49073) or directly on the wall. - The power supply to the Wiring Centre should be attached to a fuse. - When installing the Controller in the bathroom (see DIN VDE 100 part 701)

the 24-V-System should be preferably used.

PositionTo ensure trouble-free operation and efficient control, the Room Controller Neamust be installed in a draft-free area at a height of 130 cm from the ground.

- Don’t install the controller: - behind curtains - in places exposed to direct sunlight - in areas with high humidity - near a heat source - in drafty areas - Don’t place the controller on an exterior wall. - For the connection cable of the remote sensor, a suitable conduit must be

provided. The sensing element must be placed so that a good heat transfer is achieved in the measured component.

When installing the controller without a flush-mounting box you must noticethat the cable outlet is provided on the wall 19 mm above the control center.

For your benefit symbol To ensure trouble free operation and efficient control. the room thermostat Neais best positioned behind a door and at 130cm from the floor. (Pic) Do not position the thermostat: 1. Near any heat source (pics)2. Behind curtains(pic)3. Direct Sunlight(pic)4. In a bathroom or area of high humidity(pic) Info symbol· Not to be positioned on exterior wall· Do not install the remote sensor (if applicable) in an empty tube· Only the temperature at the position of remote sensor (if applicable) is measured

24 Installation and startup procedure

The electrical installation must be in accordance with the applicable nationalregulations. These instructions require an expert with an officially recognizeddegree or certification in any of the following professions:

Electrician.

According to international regularions as much as comparable occupationswithin your specific national legislation.

The controller must be disconnected from the power supply before removingthe cover.

Turn off the power to the entire room temperature control system for theassembly.

Indications for the assembly of the Room Controller Nea and of the Wiring Centre Nea can be found in the products supplied manuals.

Function testAfter completing the installation work, the function of the components and thecorrect assignment of the controller to the valve actuators should be checked.

1. Switch on main fuse.2. Adjust the controller on the highest setpoint.

After 4-5 minutes the valve actuators should be completely open. This can beverified by the outgoing steam at the top of the actuator button.

3. Leave the controller for at least 15 minutes at the highest setpoint to ensure the release of the First-Open function of the actuators.4. Repeat the same procedure on the other room controllers.5. Adjust all the controllers on the smallest setpoint.6. After about 5 minutes, check if the actuators have been closed. Here, also check the correct assembly of the valve actuators and the correct adjustment to the distribution control valves (see Figure 2-5). The circular button on the top of the actuator must be moved out about 0.5 mm.

Figure 2-5 Valve adjustment

7. Adjust the controller to the desired setpoints and operating modes.
