The year 2016 is a special year for Team Nijhof as it is

exactly 100 years ago that our studfarm was built and our

ancestors started here. The year 2015 was probably one

of the most successful years ever. Our stallion Verdi won

the Team Gold Medal at the European Championships

at Aachen and Johnson won both, the Team Gold Medal

and the individual Bronze Medal at the European

Championships at Aachen.

Furthermore we were awarded ‘Equine Entrepreneur of

the year’, a serious and very respected price for which we

received a lot of compliments and of which we are very

proud.

At this moment Team Nijhof again has a great number

of stallions that have participated at Grand Prix level

such as Clinton, Canabis Z, Eldorado van de Zeshoek,

Johnson, Lord Z, Quality Time, Spartacus, Verdi, Tadmus

and Zacharov. But there is also frozen semen available

from the Grand Prix jumpers Calvados, Concorde, Voltaire,

Larino, Manhattan, Marius Claudius and Warrant.

For 2016 we have selected a group of top class new

stallions such as Hernandez TN (Kannan x Numero

Uno), Malibu TN (Mr. Blue x Hors la Loi), Highway M TN

(Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Chellano x Darco), Pilothago

(Pilot x Carthago x Stakkato) and Maestro van de Bisschop

(Cornet Obolensky).

We also recommend our group of excellent young

performers such as, Grandorado TN, Floris TN, Firestone,

Formidable, Latour, Elton John, El Clarimo, Elvaro, I’m

Special de Muze and Starpower. All stallions that do very

well in sports and breeding.

As you can see in the top ten of the world breeding

ranking it takes Grand Prix stallions to breed Grand Prix

horses. Therefore we find it enormously important that

the stallions prove themselves in the sport. With our

own stallions, they must also show their worth, whatever

genes they possess themselves can also be passed on

to their offspring. Everything is hereditary, especially

their performance in the ring. In 2016 we will keep you

updated on the performances of our stallions and their

offspring via our website and social media on Facebook

and Youtube.

We wish you a successful breeding season in 2016 and

you are always welcome to ask us breeding advice for your

mares!

BACK IN THE DAYS

On the left you see the stallion Heraut (Donar x Weimer x Lorton). It all started with him. The stallion was approved in 1946 and was the first approved stallion owned by Team Nijhof. Later he was sold to the association ‘Noord Oost Veluwe in Oldenbroek’. In those days, horses were paid for in cash in 10 and 25 guilder bills. The war had just ended so you can imagine that the amount of 45.000 guilders in cash was a huge amount at the time.

Left in the picture is Jan Nijhof, who was born in the ‘Zandman Farm’ in 1916. Jan is the father of Henk Nijhof Senior and the grandfather of Jeanette and Henk Nijhof Junior.

One of the most complete stallions

CANABIS Z

The beautifully build Canabis Z started his sporting and breeding career at Stud Zangersheide. Afterwards Canabis Z jumped for no less than six seasons at international level, mostly ridden by Spain’s Manuel Fernandez Saro. Canabis Z has been successful at many four and five star competitions and won the Grand Prix of Vejer de la Frontera for example.Canabis Z is a son of the legendary Holstein bred sire Contender, who still has a great influence on today’s breeding. The genes of the valuable sires Silvester and Cor de la Bryere strengthen Canabis’ pedigree. In addition, Canabis Z was bred out of the strong, famous Holstein damline 990.

From Canabis’ first crop, several offspring competes successfully at the highest level, such as the Olympic mare Cadjanine Z (Gregory Wathelet and nowadays Rodrigo Pessoa), Carolus Z (Henri Kovács, Cian O’Connor and today Bernardo Alves), who competed at the European Championships in Herning 2013, and World Cup winner Carrabis Z (Richie Moloney). Like himself, Canabis Z’s offspring catch the eye with excellent reflexes, technique, attitude and a great confirmation.

Ridden by Dirk Demeersman, Clinton himself was a phenomenon in the international showjumping ring, while in breeding he is perhaps of even greater class. The son of the legendary Corrado I competed at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004, won the Grand Prix of Lummen and finished second in both the Grand Prix and the Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen.Clinton’s world-class qualities are a result of his strong pedigree, sired by the Corrado I out of a dam by Masetto, which carries the genes of both Moltke and Cottage Son xx. Clinton’s great-grandsire is the world-famous Landgraf I, whose influence is still enormous. In addition, Clinton’s granddam Ohra jumped successfully

at international level, named ‘Olympia’. Ridden by Karsten Huck and Dirk Schröder she won over 50.000 German Marks.In breeding, Clinton is unrivaled as the sire of more than 50 licensed stallions, including the KWPN-approved Eldorado van de Zeshoek TN, Zacharov TN and Whitaker. But the most striking is of course the already legendary top sire Cornet Obolensky, who jumped at the highest level with Marco Kutscher and is placed third on the WBFSH Sire Ranking for Showjumpers.

Everytime he goes in the ring, El Clarimo shows his mighty canter and demonstrates his enormous jumping talents. After he received 84.5 points in the KWPN Performance Test as a 3-year-old, El Clarimo continued to impress in the stallion competition. As a 6-year-old, El Clarimo already made his international debut with Willem Greve and currently the son of Clarimo is to be prepared for the major international shows.Sire Clarimo develops himself as a foundation sire in Holstein’s breeding of showjumpers and ridden by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Clarimo performs at the highest level. His half-brothers Cassini I and Cassini II are both world-famous sires and the oldest offspring of Clarimo have already made their international Grand Prix debut. El Clarimo himself was bred out of the famous Holsteiner damline 390 and is closely related to famous showjumpers such as For Sale, Emporio van ‘t Holeinde and Little Tom. In addition, El Clarimo’s granddam Vorr produced the international showjumper Cheer of Holger Hetzel and she is the half-sister to the successful showjumpers A 23 and Caldera.With his outstanding pedigree and his huge potential as a showjumper, El Clarimo seems to be a valuable asset for the breeding of showjumpers!

Powerhouse Eldorado van de Zeshoek meets all the expectations in both sport and breeding. Ridden by Willem Greve, the son of Clinton is currently among the best combinations in The Netherlands, making several Nations Cup appearances last year. In breeding, Eldorado van de Zeshoek is undoubtedly a foundation sire in the making, with already three KWPN approved sons, namely Grandorado TN, Grodino and Highway M TN.In addition, Eldorado van de Zeshoek’s dam Bijou Orai currently competes at 1.60m level with French rider Olivier Perreau. With the Olympic stallion Clinton as his sire and the highly successful Toulon as dam’s sire, Eldorado’s pedigree is more than outstanding.At the beginning of 2015, Willem Greve took over the reins of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and immediately won the Grand Prix of Roosendaal. “Eldorado van de Zeshoek has unlimited scope and with his power he can jump all the classes in the world. The bigger the fences, the easier Elton John seems to jump them. Ridden by Zoï Snels, the son of Clearway shows his functional way of jumping time and time again. Combined with lots of scope and carefulness. Thanks to those qualities, Elton John clears almost every course and qualified for the World Championships in Lanaken last year for the second year in a row.Elton John’s talent could be expected, given his outstanding pedigree: sire Clearway is one of the most influential sires of Holstein and Elton John’s damline is among world’s best. Granddam Ilotte produced Marcus Ehning’s longtime number one horse Plot Blue, the ‘Keur’ awarded stallion Oklund and she is the granddam to great horses like Babylotte (Bart Bless and Yuri Mansur Guerios), the KWPN approved Broere Extase (Patrick van der Schans) and the highly talented AES approved Dakar TN (Nabab de Rêve x Holland), which already jumps at 1.40m level with Henk van de Pol. In addition, Elton John’s dam Vilotte already produced the international showjumper Blackberry (Mischa Everse). Ridden by Niels Nanning, the excellent bred Elvaro shows a lot of potential for the highest level of the showjumping sport. The son of Calvaro catches attention with his enormous scope and extreme carefulness and thanks to those characteristics Elvaro ended up fourth in the final standings of the KWPN Stallion Competition. Sire Calvaro jumped at the highest level with Jos Lansink, Michael and John Whitaker and has developed into a true top sire with famous offspring like Katchina Mail (Patrice Delaveau), Grafton (Conor Swail), Santiago de Blondel (Manuel Fernandez Saro) and Sarena (Ben Maher).Elvaro’s dam April Love M is a daughter of the legendary Heartbreaker and jumped at 1.35m level herself. Heartbreaker is of an incredible

value to the breeding of showjumpers, as a sire of top stallions like Toulon, Quasimodo van de Molendreef and Harley and of world-class showjumpers like Romanov (Bertram Allen), Dejavu (Bassem Hassan Mohammed) and VDL Groep Zidane (Leopold van Asten).In addition, Elvaro was bred out of the direct damline of the KWPN approved stallion Londontimes, which jumped at the highest level with Kevin Olsmeyer and has proved to be valuable in breeding too. Firestone is the wonderful result of top-class dressage sires Johnson and Florencio. Ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, Johnson is among the world’s best dressage horses. He contributed to the bronze team medal at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014 and the golden team medal at the European Championships in Aachen 2015, where Johnson also earned an individual bronze medal. Florencio has been world champion as both a five- and a six-year-old, while last year the KWPN awarded Florencio as ‘Keur’ sire. Florencio deserved this great title thanks to his offspring performing at Grand Prix level and the talented KWPN approved stallion Charmeur. The thoroughbred Painters Row xx and the valuable Saluut strengthen Firestone’s pedigree. Firestone was bred out of the famous Bella-damline, which produced many successful showjumpers and dressage horses. Firestone’s full sister Elfi also earned no less than 81.5 points the KWPN Mare Test and achieved an amazing score of 95 points for her trot at the KWPN Mare Inspections.As a 3-year-old, Firestone stood out due to his fantastic confirmation and movements, which earned him the title of reserve champion at the KWPN Stallion Show. Afterwards, Firestone earned 82.5 points in the KWPN Performance Test and makes a great impression with Joyce Lenaerts in the KWPN Stallion Competition. In Ermelo Firestone finished fifth, in Roosendaal he ended up fourth and at the last competition in Zuidbroek, Firestone became third. Firestone’s first foals seem promising: they show charm, charisma and great movements!

Last year Florencio’s great influence in breeding was recognised by the KWPN and Florencio received the prestigious title ‘Keur’. Again and again, Florencio’s offspring prove themselves: several offspring scores over 70% at Grand Prix level – including the approved stallion Florenciano, ridden by Hubertus Schmidt, nearly 40 sons of Florencio are approved stallions, including the KWPN approved Charmeur, his son Borencio won the Pavo Cup for young dressage horses twice and many times his daughters turned out as true stars at KWPN Mare Inspections.Sire Florestan I is an outstanding dressage ambassador of Westphalia, with many approved sons, like Fidermark, Fleurop, Fürst Heinrich, Faveur, Neostan, Flores, Freestyle and Flieder. Grandsire Weltmeyer is one of the most famous

sires of Hannover with countless approved sons and offspring at the highest level of dressage, while great-grandsire Pik Bube is a world-famous sire too.These outstanding dressage genes were expressed through Florencio at already a young age: in 2003 Florencio became reserve champion of Germany at the prestigious Bundeschampionat and as a 4-year-old Florencio became champion of Westphalia. Ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, Florencio became World Champion for young dressage horses in Verden in both 2004 and 2005. Thanks to his gorgeous confirmation and fantastic movements, Formidable was not only approved in Westphalia, but also honored as ‘Prämie’ stallion. Formidable lives up to his name with his confirmation and movements, but also has a pedigree to dream of. Sire Fidertanz is developing into one of the greatest sires of Germany and ridden by Portugal’s António Do Vale, Fidertanz successfully performs at Grand Prix level. In breeding, Fidertanz meets all the expectations, with already more than 40 approved sons, including the champion Flanagan, Feedback, Foundation and Franziskus. All eyes are on Grandorado TN, being one of the greatest talents of the G-year of the KWPN. In the KWPN Performance Test the son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek earned 85.5 points and he was already described as a phenomenon. Top-level rider Willem Greve discovered many world-class horses in his career and bought a share of Grandorado too. “He is a true natural. Thanks to his great movements, he obtained as only one of the few Westphalian stallions the title ‘Prämie’ stallion. VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P. is the best example of sport and breeding going hand in hand. For years, Verdi combines his career as a sire with a sports career at the very highest level. Last year, Verdi and his rider Maikel van der Vleuten competed at their fifth major championship in a row (!): European Championships in Madrid 2011, Olympic Games in London 2012, European Championships in Herning 2013, World Equestrian Games in Caen 2014 and European Championship in Aachen 2015. In addition, Verdi took part in no less than three World Cup Finals, in which he finished twice as 6th and once as 7th! Zacharov is the perfect example of performance breeding as we love to see nowadays. Zacharov’s pedigree include Olympic sire Clinton, the extremely competitive Lord Z, Stallion of the Century Nimmerdor, the legendary Almé and the indispensable Gotthard. Zambesi is the result of sport horse breeding with a vision. The legendary Heartbreaker, who is world-famous for his reflexes and attitude, was combined with Calvaro Z, who stood out due to his unlimited scope. Zambesi’s dam Calanda Z jumped at international level with Mathijs van Asten, while granddam Alanda performed at international level with Pieter Kersten. Alanda is a daughter of Le Mexico and bred many top horses, such as It’s The Business (Geoff Glassard) and Galanda (Edwin Smits), who is again the dam to Now or Never (Piet Raijmakers).As a youngster, Zambesi himself was already successful in showjumping: at the age of six he qualified for the finals at the World Championships in Lanaken and ridden by Sjaak Sleiderink he became three times second out of four competitions in the KWPN Stallion Competition, of which he won both the final and the overall standings in Den Bosch. Later on, Zambesi competed successfully at 1.45m level.Zambesi’s offspring show great potential for the big sport. Indian Summer is overall convincing! He is a very talented dressage horse with an attractive type and outstanding origins. At the National Championship for mares dam Rilena was runner up and she took revanche at the European Championship for mares in Brussels, where she won the title! She was successful on fourth level dressage and scored high marks in the mare testing. More performance genes are coming from ‘stallion of the century’ Nimmerdor in the third generation. This 5-year-old talent has been approved by the AES and is sired by Calvaro Z, who competed in all major championships with Jos Lansink, Michael and John Whitaker. For example, Calvaro Z reached the finals of the OG in Sydney 2000. Ridden by Zoï Snels, Global Champion TN already finished at the top of several stallion competitions and young horse competitions. For example, he ended up third in the KWPN Stallion Competition in Ermelo, while he became fourth in the GMB Competition. Again and again, Global Champion TN impresses with his enormous push from the floor, scope and endless possibilities.

With Hubert Bourdy sire Toulon gained an impressive record of achievements, with high placings in the GP of Sao Paulo (1st) and the Nations Cup in Rome (2nd). After those years the Heartbreaker-son performed also on the highest level with Jonella Ligresti. Several descendants of Toulon are following in his footsteps, like Bijou Orai, Athena and Dadjak ter Puttenen. The most successful horse out of this Holsteiner damline 6372 is Cellagon Lambrasco. Heartbreaker himself was successful at Grand Prix level with Peter Geerink and is now placed number 6 on the WBFSH-ranking for jumping sires. His influence in worldwide breeding is enormous. In the KWPN-studbook he has already 9 approved sons and 14 approved grandsons. In the international scene many of his offspring are competing at the highest level. One of the best this season was Bertram Allen’s Romanov II, who won four Grand Prix’ (Bordeaux, Dortmund, La Baule and Paris). Also his offspring VDL Groep Zidane, ridden by Leopold van Asten, and the approved stallions Cidane, Toulon, Zambesi and Actionbreaker are doing very well. Heartbreaker is also the grandfather of world champion Earley. His grandchildren Hello Sanctos and Admara are both in the lead in the WBFSH-Rankings 2016. Heartbreaker is now 27-years-old and only available in breeding via the icsi-method.

When you order fresh or frozen semen from SWS Nijhof B.V. the general terms and conditions of the Dutch ‘Bond van Hengstenhouders’ in the Netherlands are applied.

Stud station SWS Nijhof B.V. accepts no liability whatsoever for damage, sickness or injury to people, animals, transportation or otherwise.

Mares are inseminated entirely at the cost and risk of the mare owner.

Semen must be ordered at least 24 hours before shipment.

The total costs for shipping and health certificates will be invoiced to the mare-owner together with the stud fee.

The first part of the breeding fee of euro 200,- (excl. vat and shipping costs) will be charged to the mare owner after the first order. The reminder of the breeding fee will be charged after July 1st 2016.

The written veterinary declaration for the non-pregnant mare must be in our office before October 1st 2016 otherwise the mare owner looses the rights on reduction on the breeding fee!

We are certified for the exportation of semen abroad (both fresh and frozen semen).

Please take into account that we need to organise health certificates with at least 30 hours notice.
