Where Are MY Files??
Laptop
• Are on the USB Stick that was distributed last year.
• Need to Move to the Library– Windows Task Bar– Transfer Instructions are on the Laptop Quick
Start Guide.
Personal Files NOT To Be Backed Up
• You MAY create a folder OUTSIDE of My Documents.– Files in this folder will NOT be backed up
• Right click at the Desktop and select New/Folder
Backing Up MY Files??
Laptop• Files NOT automatically backed up• Run Backup regularly – Click Laptop Icon• Do all of your work on your laptop
Desktop• Any changes to files must be moved to
laptop via USB memory stick
Shut Down vs. Closing the Lid
• Shut Down:– At end of the day– Leaving the building
• Close the Lid– Transporting around the school– When not attended in school (Or Lock the Computer
with Ctrl+Alt+Del, Lock Computer)
• DO NOT Carry by the screen

Wireless Away From School
• Click on the Bar Strength (Yellow star) icon
• Select the desired wireless network– Will need your home wireless password
Security Cables
Standalone Mode
• Log in as if you are at school
• When you are not connected to the school network, you still have access to your files
• Sync your laptop files with the server (H:) using the “Backup Data Files” in the Laptop icon
Guidelines
• Security• Installing software on your laptop
– Must have a license– Backup data first.
– If your laptop encounters a problem, and needs to be re-images, ALL software you installed will be lost
• Support– Call Tech Services
USB Memory Key
• 4 Gigabyte– Use for file backups– Transporting files from
one computer to another
SmartBoard/Data Projector
• Connect VGA cable from Data Projector– Fn + F7 to toggle through settings – OR Windows key (beside Alt key) + P and select
Duplicate
• Connect USB cable or dongle from SmartBoard
Documentation
• Technology Use AP 140 & Appendices– Read on your own.
• Acceptable Use Agreement Form 140-2– Fill out once during your employment. Kept
on file in school.
• Need to fill out now the Laptop Registration Form.
