TCEQ Commissioners
Three full-time commissioners are appointed by the governor to establish overall agency direction and policy, and to make final determinations on contested permitting and enforcement matters.

Mission Statement:The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality strives to protect our state's human and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development. Our goal is clean air, clean water, and the safe management of waste.
Rulemaking Adopt rules; powers assigned by the legislature
Permitting Evaluate paperwork, direct activities affecting environment
Monitoring Monitor ambient conditions, those associated w/investigations
Investigations Conduct complaint and routine inspections
Enforcement Seek compliance; may include an order and monetary fine
Emergency ResponseRespond to spills, accidental releases, and natural disasters
