    Energy efficiency with partial loads E.S.E.E.R. index

    The E.E.R. represents an esti mate of the energy effic iency of thecooling unit at nominal design conditions. Actually, the operating time ofa cooling unit at nominal conditions is generally less than the operatingtime at partial load. The E.S.E.E.R. (European Seasonal E.E.R.) index estimates the

    average seasonal energy efficiency of the cooling unit in four load andoutdoor air temperatur e conditions. In general, two cooling units withthe same E.E.R. value can have different E.S.E.E.R. values. In fact, f oran air cooled cooling unit, the a verage energy efficiency depends both

    on design choices as well as on the temperature of the inlet air at thecondensing coil. The E.S.E.E.R. energy index, introduced by the EuropeanCommunit y (E.E.C.C.A.C. project - Energy Efficiency and Certifica tionof Central Air Conditioners), is characterized by the outdoor airtemperatures ( see table I) and for the weighted energ y values that

    are assigned to the four l oad conditions considered for calcul ation:100%, 75%, 50% e 25%,

    ESEER =3xEER 100% +33xEER75%+41xEER 50% +23xEER 25%

    100

    where EER100%, EER75%, EER50%, EER25% ,represent the efficiency of

    the cooling unit in the four load and temperature conditions set forth i ntable B. Data is also calculated using the Eurovent method. In versions P,D,T,U, the power consumption of the pump is not

    considered.

    Tables C and "D" show the E.E.R. and E.S.E.E.R. values for eachmodel.The high values of energy efficienc y at partial loads were obtainedthanks to the optimization of the heat exchangers and the variable flowrate compressor.

    KRS485 Serial interface Supervision

    The electronic controller, provided with all the units, is c onfigured for

    dialogue with an external BMS through a serial communication lineusing the KRS485 serial interface accessor y (proprietary protocol orModBus RTU) and the following c onverters:

    KRS232 RS485/RS232 serial converter for interconnection betweenRS485 serial network and super vision s ystems with serial connectionto PC via RS232 serial port (RS232 cable provided).KUSB RS485/USB serial converter for interconnection betweenRS485 serial network and super vision s ystems with serial connectionto PC via USB port (USB cable pro vided).

    Generally speaking, a super vision sys tem allows access to all the unit

    functions, s uch as: setting all the values accessible b y the keyboard; reading all t he digital and analogue inlet and outlet processvariables;

    read the various alar m codes and if necessar y reset them; reading all t he programming p arameters and adjusting them.

    Use of antifreeze solutions

    Use of ethylene glycol is a must whenhydraulic circuit water drainage is not foreseenduring winter. T he addition of gl ycol changesthe physical properties of the water andconsequently the performance of the unit. The

    proper gl ycol percentage to be put into thesystem to protect it from frost can be obtainedfrom the har dest operation c onditions chosenamong those detailed below.

    Anti-f reeze protection during seasonal stop

    Table H shows the multipliers to obtain thechanges of the unit performances according t othe necessary percentages of ethylene glycol. The multi pliers refer to the followingconditions: condenser input air temperature35C; chil led water tempera ture 7C;

    Water connections

    The unit is equipped with male-thr eadedwater connections and a manual air bleedvalve located inside the casing near thewater co nnections. It is advisable to install interception

    valves to isolate the unit from the rest of theunit and the el astic connection joints.

    It is obligatory to install a networ k filt eron the machine's water inl et. The water flow through the heat-exchanger should not fall below a val uecorresponding t o a temperature dif ferential
