What is the Purpose of Baptism?• Baptism is symbolic in nature.

• Baptism does not save you. We believe it is an outward picture of what has happened inside.

• It pictures Christ’s death, burial and resurrection .

• It pictures my new creation as a Christian.

7

• It is a way to publicly show that you are a Christian and to openly identify with him.

TBC 101

BaptismBaptism

Why Should I be baptized?• Because the Lord commands it.

TBC 101

BaptismBaptism

Why Baptism by Immersion?• Because the Jesus was baptized that way.

• In the New Testament, every baptism was by immersion.

• Baptism comes from the Greek word ‘baptzio’ which is translated to immerse.

• Immersion shows the picture Paul gives in Romans 6:3-4 of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.

A pattern of shared basic assumptions that the group learned as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think and feel in relation to those problems.
