Thank you for choosing a Riedel product.

This Manual provides detailed information about the Tango system, especially pin outs, mechanical and

electrical data. Compatible products with separate documentation are not described in this Manual.

For further information, please refer to the Riedel Website or contact your local distributor or the Riedel

headquarters in Wuppertal.

1.1 Information

Symbols

The following tables are used to indicate hazards and provide cautionary information in relation to the

handling and use of the equipment.

Danger

!Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death

or serious injury.

The highlighted line indicates the activity to prevent the danger.

Warning

!Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death

or serious injury.

The highlighted line indicates the activity to prevent the danger.

Caution

!Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or

moderate injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.

Service

· All service has to be undertaken ONLY by qualified service personnel.

· There are no user serviceable parts inside the Power Supply Units or inside the Mainframe.

· Do not plug in, turn in or attempt to operate an obviously damaged unit.

Voltage

· The power cable should only be connected to a correctly grounded source.

· Do not use any adapters.

· Never bypass a ground contact.

Danger

! To reduce the risk of electric shock do not remove cover or expose the products to

rain or moisture.

Warning

!· This device must be operated in a restricted access area only.

· This device must not be accessible to ordinary persons

and must be accessible to instructed and skilled persons only.

Caution

! The device has two redundant power supplies.

Before you open the device, remove both power cords.

Environment

· Never place the device in an area of high dust particles or humidity.

condensation may form inside the housing. Wait at least 6 hours before applying any power to the

device.

· Operating temperature of the system: 0°C ... +50°C.

Ventilation

· Do not place the device next to a hot source like a radiator.

· The ventilation openings on the left and right side of the device must never be blocked.

Battery Safety

The device is fitted with the following battery type: Lithium Battery, type CR2032, 3 V, ~200 mAh.

Warning

!Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by any other incorrect type.

Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

Do not expose to high storage temperatures above 60°C (140°F).

Disposal

Disposal of old Electrical & Electric Equipment (Applicable throughout the European Union and other

European countries with separate collection programs)

1.2 About Tango

TANGO - Networked Communications Platform

The Tango TNG-200 is Riedel’s first fully-networked platform based on the AES67 and AVB standards. With its

own dedicated Intercom application, it can be turned into a cutting-edge and flexible solution for a variety of

communications scenarios.

Riedel’s Tango TNG-200 offers powerful processing capabilities, 2 integrated Riedel Digital Partylines, 2 AES67

and AVB compatible ports, 2 Ethernet ports, 1 option slot, and redundant power supplies. Tango TNG-200 is

1.5 RU high and features a low mounting depth and a low noise design. All Riedel current and legacy

Intercom panels, including the new 2300 Smartpanel, are fully compatible with Tango.

The sunlight readable, high-resolution, full color TFT display ensures perfect readability at all times,

extending the range of possible applications and providing maximum ease of use. The intuitive front panel

controls enable users to easily recall presets and adjust audio levels.

Riedel’s Tango TNG-200 is an efficient stand-alone solution and a perfect example of German Engineering.

Shaped perfectly to your needs, Tango is the flexible platform for todays and upcoming standards in the

broadcast, theater and event environment.

PULSE

Intuitive Configuration Software

Riedel’s Pulse is the configuration software for the Tango TNG-200 platform. It enables access, setup and

control of any aspect and function of the Tango TNG-200 platform and its installed applications, combining

intuitive handling features such as drag and drop as well as 3D views for easy programming.

The Pulse user manual is a separate document and available on the Riedel Website.

Intercom Application

Riedel’s powerful Intercom Application for TNG-200 turns the Tango platform into an efficient Intercom

system, enabling users to tailor the system according to their needs including matrix size, starting with a 40 x

80 system. The software offers full backwards compatibility with the whole range of Riedel control panels

and accessories. It is configurable by Pulse, Riedel’s Intuitive configuration software for the Tango TNG-200

platform and its applications.

1.3 Audiopatch

All panel types that are operated with a Tango with the firmware version 1.0 and the Pulse software version

1.0 are preconfigured with static audio patches, which cannot be modified. This functionality is enabled in a

future version of Tango and Pulse.

There are two audio patches preconfigured that can be toggled by the headset key on the panel.

The following tables and figures are illustrating the preconfigured audio patches.

Power Supply

The Tango device is equipped with two internal power supplies and contains two IEC connectors for the

mains connection. Both IEC connectors are located on the rear side. For redundancy reasons it is

recommended to connect both power supplies to separate power.

Ventilation

Tango devices are equipped with 4 fans located on the left side.

The air flows from the left side through a dust filter to the right side.

Display

Tango features a sunlight readable, high-resolution TFT color display. The displayed information is

organized in a menu structure that can be navigated with the 7 buttons right beside the display.

The general key functions and the menu structure are explained in chapter Menu Structure.

2.1 Menu Structure

The 7 buttons right beside the display allows displaying System information.

Pushing the red button and the home button simultaneously activates a warm start of the

Tango system. Pushing the red button and the menu button simultaneously activates a cold

start.

2.2 Option Cards

Tango's capacities can be expanded not only by software but also by the use of option cards. For this

purpose Tango has an onboard connector inside the unit. Additional I/O can be added via the option card

slot in the rear of the unit.

It is recommended let Riedel Service install option cards.

WCLK IN & OUT ports

The WCLK (Wordclock) IN port is used to synchronize the Tango system to an external Sync Source. The

WCLK OUT port is used to synchronize external systems to the Tango system.

· The "+12V GPIO" output voltages (GPI IN + GPI OUT) supplies both together 600 mA maximum.

· The input voltage range of the GPI inputs is +5 to +48 VDC (~5 mA current draw, internal

optocouplers).

· The polarity of the inputs is important. The higher potential must be connected to “P” of each

channel.

· The inputs are galvanically isolated.

3.3 Maintenance Recommendations

Following points are strongly recommended to prevent malfunction of the system.

General

· Check if all fans are running (fault will be shown in the Pulse Software).

Daily

· Check if power is attached to both power supply units.

Weekly

None

Monthly

· Check fan dust filters and exchange them if necessary.

Yearly

None

Other

· Every three years, the fan filters should be exchanged due to an aging process even if they are not dusty or

if the system was not in operation.
