- It requires multiple interactions vs. a single event. The “fire hose” approach to information can be overwhelming- space out content and add touchpoints.
- Successful onboarding occurs over time during the first year. Zappo’s.com sells shoes and clothing online. They have a 5 week training program and offer new employees $2,000 to quit.
- It must be supported by multiple resources, especially the hiring manger.- The power is in the interaction… not in the paper (or website)! You can’t build the perfect tool and then forget about the people.
