Defective Habit 5Talk first and pretend to understand By Austin Halvosa and Jonathan Hayes

Seek first to talk, then pretend to listenMost of our modern day teens like to talk first because they like to be the center of attentionThen even when they are done they dont care to listen once theyve gotten what they want. They arent patient

They always talk out of turnThey were born with a mouth, so they use it. Make sure they talk a lot. Always express their side of the story First.

Pretend to listenOnce theyre sure everyone understands their views, they pretend to listen by nodding and saying uh-huh.

Ways to avoid being like thatStart practicing everyday by doing what Mrs. Harrell does and cover your mouth when you really want to talkWrite a reminder to yourself to read every morning so you dont forget

Wait for your turn and listenDont try to be the center of attention even though you might really want toActually listen and wait patiently to speak

ReviewWe learned that some people are very talkative enough to interrupt others just to be the center of attentionWe can avoid being this type of horrid person by simply reminding ourselves by tying a string on our fingerPatience is key. Key I say, key!
