Social Science

We have various responsibilities or duties towards our country. We also have ‘Rights’ that

ensure a better life. Similarly, a school is a student’s second home. As members of the

school community, the students too have certain ‘Rights’ and ‘Duties’ towards it.

Let’s first try to understand the following-

1. What are ‘Rights’?

‘Rights’ are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom.

2. What are ‘Duties’?

‘Duties’ mean responsibilities or obligations to satisfactorily perform or complete a

task.

The students of a school generally have the following ‘Rights’ --------- • to receive wholesome education. • to be provided with a safe and secure classroom environment. • to be heard and given the opportunity to express their opinions. • to be provided with the basic necessities in the school. • to have a fair and a caring environment. • to have friendships and to work cooperatively with others.

Please note that for every ‘Right’ mentioned above, you have a ‘Duty’ to perform.
