Safety Orientation Course Description As an employer, AnMed Health has two safety responsibilities to all staff: To maintain a safe work environment and to provide training. This course gives new AnMed Health employees information about the safety policies and procedures. It covers the requirements that all employees need to follow in order to make AnMed Health a safe work environment. This session will offer hands-on techniques, strategies and skills to assist you in our quest for excellent patient care when medical interpretation is necessary to provide effective communication. Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service CLAS Standards. Originally, issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services in 2001, the CLAS Standards are a combination of requirements and recommendations in support of cultural and linguistic competence in healthcare. The CLAS Standards provide the framework and guiding principles for AnMed Health’s Diversity and Language Service Department. A candid analysis of some of our most compelling and challenging cross-cultural encounters will provide a snapshot of our capacity to demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence.

Manager’s Orientation Course Description The purpose of this two-day course is to orient managers to the day-to-day operations of running a department. Managers will become familiar with Human Resource issues, financial management and policy and procedures along with the hiring and termination process. Targeted Selection, interviewer training, is included in the two-day session. Course Objectives

At the conclusion, participants should be able to: Understand the different procedures and policies for dealing with issues within your department.

Locate and complete appropriate paperwork needed in conducting daily management procedures and know what resources are available for assistance.

Become certified as a Targeted Selection interviewer.

Co-Workers in Conflict Course Description This course provides guidelines to follow when handling conflict with a co-worker. Participants will determine common reasons for workplace conflict and will be given ways to prevent conflict before it occurs. Attendees will examine styles by completing a questionnaire. An 8-step process for resolving conflict will be explained along with communication styles that are important to understand in the resolution process. Continuing Education GE TIP-TV GE TIP-TV is now TiP-Ed Online. Online courses are available in computed tomography, leadership, magnetic resonance, mammography, nuclear medicine/PET, ultrasound and X-ray. Contact the AnMed Health Medical Librarian for the web address and login instructions. Audio Conferences and Webinars The Teleconference Network of Texas offers audio conferences and webinars for continuing education. Current offerings include programs for laboratory personnel, dietitians, nutritionists, chaplains, and social workers involved in healthcare. Tuition starts at $50 per program, and programs average one hour in length. People in Progress (PIP) People in Progress is a learning benefit for AnMed Health employees and their family members 18 years of age and older. Non-salaried employees are paid half of their hourly wage while attending PIP programs. These programs include Adult Learning Center classes (located in Anderson, Oconee and Williamston) and time spent in the AnMed Health PIP lab (located in the Medical Library). Employees are reimbursed for adult educational materials required by the Learning Center Courses. For lab hours or more information, please call 512-1253.
