revenue growth is to offer new, higher bandwidth
services to your customers. The Total Access
1148V Vectored VDSL2 FTTC broadband access
system allows service providers to realise ultra-
broadband speeds with deep fibre deployments
coupled with their existing copper infrastructure,
economically delivering 100 Mbps+ broadband to
the home and enabling premium entertainmentservices.
ADTRANs Total Access 1148V Vectored VDSL2
broadband access system provides an innovative
approach to the successful deployment of fibre
to the cabinet (FTTC) architectures. Recognising
the technological and economic barriers of tradi-
tional cabinet-based DSL deployments, ADTRAN
designed the standalone, weatherproof Total
Access 1100 Series FTTC systems to eliminate
the need for expensive cabinet enclosures, heat
exchangers and site construction, which account
for a large portion of the total cost of deployment.
With the flexibility to be deployed in almost anyenvironment dramatically lowering deployment
costs, the Total Access 1148V allows carriers to
cost-effectively reduce loop lengths and maximise
the performance of Vectored VDSL2 over their
copper network.
Equipped with multiple 10-Gigabit Ethernet
uplinks, a non-blocking architecture, and a rich
feature set targeted for the delivery of multimedia
services, the Total Access 1148V VDSL2 FTTC
system is ideally suited for the delivery of high-
bandwidth, high-quality video, voice, and data
services. Integrated 10-Gigabit Ethernet switching
in the Total Access 1148V Host units allow theFTTC system to scale from 48 to 192 ports in a
single managed node, accommodating long-term
growth and lowering initial circuit costs. Ethernet
Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) support enables
resilient connection of multiple nodes while mini-
mising aggregation port cost. Integrated splitters
and primary protection eliminate the need for
extra equipment and provide the absolute smallest
footprint for the Total Access 1148V Vectored
VDSL2 system.

VDSL2 vectoring enables carriers to maximise
the bandwidth provided to subscribers via the most
advanced DSL transmission technology.
By cancelling noise caused by crosstalk, vectoring
improves subscriber bandwidth by
50 percent or more on loops shorter than
1200 m (4000 ft). System-level vectoring connects
up to four DSLAMs for 192 ports in a single
vectoring group, improving vectoring gains andeliminating the complex binder management
required by less capable 48-port only vectoring
solutions (often called board-level vectoring).
Developed with concern for carrier field needs, the
Total Access 1148V comes with customer-acces-
sible cables that allow for the quick replacement
of units in the field. Several cable lengths with
MS2or 710 type connectors or unterminated
stub are available to accommodate the needs
of all service providers. The Total Access 1148V
can be remotely provisioned and managed using
TL1, Telnet, SNMP, or the Advanced Operational
Environment (AOE) management suite, enablingservice providers to operate the unit without a
truck dispatch.
RFT-V span, 100-240 VAC, and -48 VDC
local powering options are offered with a single
unit, eliminating the need to order and spare
different part numbers for different applications.
Span powering from the exchange allows for
the centralisation of battery backup and greatly
reduces deployment costs. The Total Access 1148V
uses 1 to 8 powering pairs from the exchange with
the actual pair count dependent
on the desired deployment range. RFT-C span
powering is available as an option on ETSI models.ADTRANs Total Access 1148V Vectored VDSL2
broadband access system provides a flexible solu-
tion that allows service providers to economically
meet their most challenging objectives. With the
ability to economically deliver ultra-broadband
services using field-proven outside plant tech-
nology, the Total Access 1148V is ready for the
broadband demands of the future.
