SKECHERS opens its first retail store in Manhattan Beach, mere feet from its corporate headquarters.

1995

SKECHERS USA for men and women and SKECHERS Sport for men launches.

Britney Spears is the Company’s first international celebrity endorsee. Famous faces that have represented the brand over the years include: Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, Robert Downey, Jr., Rick Fox, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Ashlee Simpson, and David Cook.

SKECHERS amplifies its retail presence with the opening of its first store in New York. The store later relocates to the heart of Times Square; approximately 50,000 pass every day.

SKECHERS becomes a public company on the NYSE under the symbol SKX.

SKECHERS Sport for women launches, led by the Energy jogger – which has become one of the most popular styles in SKECHERS’ history.

Expanding into family footwear, the Company introduces SKECHERS Kids for boys and girls.

Canada’s first retail store opens at Toronto’s Eaton Centre. SKECHERS also opens a store in the world’s largest shopping venue, Mall of America.

Reaching a record $1.006 billion in annual revenues, SKECHERS is named Footwear Plus’ “2005 Company of the Year.”

SKECHERS is announced as one of America’s 400 Best Big Companies in Forbes – ranking alongside Nike as one of 14 companies in the Household and Personal Products category.

SKECHERS store base grows to more than 165 including 11 international locations and another 60 distributor-owned stores.

The Company now has approximately 350 retail stores around the world.

Shape Ups by SKECHERS Fitness Group, a revolutionary fitness shoe that helps you Shape Up While You Walk is launched!

With 10 SKECHERS stores already in place, Chile transitions from a distributor to a subsidiary, and India joins as a distributor.

SKECHERS plans to expand its American distribution center to 1.8 million square feet in late 2009 to accommodate growth.

SKECHERS launches the brand in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland, expanding its direct distribution across Europe with six new subsidiaries. A 242,000-square-foot European warehouse opens in Liege, Belgium to handle demand in Europe.

The Company exports its business model to Canada and Italy, creating two new subsidiaries.

Global tourist spots: The 100th retail store opens in Times Square, the largest tourist location in the world. By the end of the year, 125 stores are open. Locations now include Madrid, Dusseldorf and Amsterdam.

Growing business in the Americas, SKECHERS launches in Brazil as a subsidiary.

Retail store count passes 200, and includes flagship stores in the prime shopping areas of New York’s Union Square, Chicago’s State Street and San Francisco’s Union Square, which is now the largest concept store.

Two joint ventures are formed: in China, the world’s most populated country, and in Hong Kong. Within the year, 15 retail stores are opened in China and 6 stores are opened in Hong Kong. SKECHERS international store count now passes 125.

The 150th company-owned retail store and the 50th distributor-owned store are opened. Locations now include Hollywood & Highland and Dubai.

The most value-oriented of al l SKECHERS retail stores are our outlet stores. An excellent way to move product, outlet stores feature a self-serve layout, with the product in varying sizes and colorways out on the floor for the customer. SKECHERS outlet stores are found in major premium outlet centers.

Store sizes range from 180 square meters to more than 300 square meters.

Our concept stores are in more than 35 countries around the world and offer the most popular and cutting-edge styles that suit the market. A carefully selected assortment of SKECHERS Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’ footwear are showcased on eye-catching in-store displays. SKECHERS concept stores are in hip shopping districts and malls such as London’s Oxford Street, Paris’ Les Halles, and Las Vegas’s Fashion Show Mall.

The store front is topped with the signature “Performance S” Logo marquee sign. The window fixture displays 30 to 40 styles and is illuminated internally with under-shelf lighting and additional front lighting.

Shoes are displayed on a neutral, well-lit wall or on floor tables that create a natural customer flow. Both display types allow consumers access to the product for closer examination.

Women’s product typically is featured on the right side of the store, or the longest wall, and is approximately 50% of the styles shown.

Men’s product usually is grouped on the left section of the store, and is approximately 30% of the styles shown. Kids’ product often is found near the rear of the store adjacent to the cash wrap, and is approximately 20% of the styles shown.

Upon entering the store, the consumer usually faces the focal wall behind the cash desk, which includes eye-catching visual elements like the SKECHERS logo and SKECHERS commercials playing on a large plasma TV.

Our family-friendly image is reflected in various graphics throughout the store, which are placed adjacent to the product to illustrate the categories. We also change out these images two times a year to keep the look fresh.
