Christmas Shoe Box Project
TA Prep wants to help needy children in this area by making this Christmas time special and happy for them.
How to Pack a Shoebox?
1. Find a Shoebox: Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it,
cover the box and lid separately.
2. Girl or Boy? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14
3. Fill the box with Gifts: Select a medium to large
“wow” item such as a doll or stuffed animal, then fill with other small fun toys, school supplies, clothing
accessories (mittens, gloves, scarves, hats), non-liquid hygiene items (bar soap, toothbrush, etc.)
4. Pray: Please include a personal note or a Christmas
card. Most importantly pray for the child who will receive your gift.
Join us this Christmas season to share the love of Jesus with those around us.

HAPPY FRIDAY TA PREP
FAMILIES!
PREPPY’S SAVING TIP:
Make a holiday gift budget.
Tis the season of giving, but you don’t have to
break your bank account. Create a holiday
budget and stick to this budget. Make a list of
all the people you want to give a gift. Decide
how much you can realistically spend on each
person. Then, put the different amounts in
spending envelopes with each person’s name
on it, and take that with you when you go
shopping. Once that envelope is empty, don’t
spend any more on that person. Give them the
gift with a hug and a warm smile.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Each year Takoma Academy Preparatory School is to provide an update in reference to the status of
asbestos.
Description:
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral which has, until about 1980, been commonly used in building
materials. Asbestos will not burn, is an excellent insulator, has great strength, is resistant to chemicals,
and absorbs sound. Some examples of asbestos-containing building materials are vinyl floor tiles, floor
tile mastics, sprayed-on acoustical and insulating ceiling material, and pipe insulation. Asbestos
containing materials may deteriorate over time. If these materials are disturbed by maintenance,
renovation, or demolition activities, asbestos fibers may be released into the air. Inhalation of these
airborne, microscopic fibers can cause some types of cancer of the lung.
Per our handbook:
In accordance with 40CFR-763 AHERA TA Prep inspects all buildings for ACBM. According to the law, TA
Prep will update the management plans every three (3) years and inspects all buildings every six months.
Copies of the management plan can be found in the Maintenance Department. To view a copy, contact
Carla Thrower, TA Prep Principal.
Per H E Consulting:
H E Consulting, Inc. has completed the AHERA required six-month surveillance inspection for asbestos
materials at Takoma Academy Preparatory School. The inspection activities were conducted November
28, 2018. We performed the work by identifying and noting the Response Action (RA) of all materials
listed in the previous 6 month inspection report.
