On the 23rd of January 2020 we took part in a Euroscola day in Strasbourg, France. As soon as we arrived at the European parliament, we were divided into different groups. We ate breakfast together and got to know each other and discuss before the real program of the day started. Before I met all the other young reporters, I was a bit nervous but when we started talking, I was really happy that I had chosen to be a part of this specific group. After getting to know a bit about each other, our guide gave us a little tour around the European Parliament building. turn to present their schools and views about these current subjects we were dealing with at this Euroscola event. The MEPs talked about Brexit and its impact on us, the other European countries, our currency and our European passports that bring us rights, for example, and about freedom to travel freely in the European countries. They also talked about the differences between the salaries of men and women, which was an important topic in my opinion. We visited the other working groups and followed their discussions and the ideas they had about how to improve our future.

We also had an opportunity to interview our young fellow reporters. I was especially curious to know if some of the reporters were interested in working in politics in the future. Diana, 17, from Romania is already a primary school teacher and will be a middle school teacher in a year. I asked her opinion of what was the main crisis in the world right now and the answer was what I expected it to be. Pollution and the damage it is doing to our planet. Also, the wildfires in Australia is a big issue in her opinion, which I totally agree on. A 16-year-old Myrto from Greece is very interested in journalism and politics. She also agrees that the nature is in serious danger but is also worried about the possible Third World War which she thinks could be prevented with the help of Europe.

All in all, this Euroscola day was a great experience and full of important conversations. I was pleasantly surprised about how the young people of Europe had great ideas as how to build a better future for us. On behalf of our group from Savonlinna, Finland, we really want to thank the EU for this great opportunity.
