Thank you, Fr Pat! After one month of helping us, Fr Pat Labasano, SSS,
will return to his Oahu parish, Mary, Star of the Sea on Monday, Aug 5.
We appreciate his support & enjoyed renewing acquaintances. You will be missed!
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

18th Sunday – 2019
Be rich in what matters to God Our world tries to convince us that the value of a human person is measured
by what he possesses. And thus, man tries to accumulate possession as he could if he will be worth something. And this is where greed comes in. And somehow greed blurs our vision. It can even blind us from seeing rightly what is essential in becom-ing human.
And this is what the Gospel this Sunday warns us about. There is more to life than the accumulation of possessions because at the end, what one has accumu-lated, he has to leave behind. Everything this world has to offer is for us to manage not us to be possessed by them. They are gifts entrusted to us to make this world a better place for all of God’s children. The better stewards we become, the better this world becomes.
People become greedy because they are afraid there will not be enough for them. Let us dis-
pel this fear by trusting in God, who did not only cre-ate this world but continue to sustain it. And let us all “be rich in what matters to God.”
Let us pray for the souls of
our dearly departed.
May they find peace.
