11⁄3 yards Tonga-B4587 Sand 2/3 yard Tonga-B4166 Mint (binding)2 yards wide XTonga (106" wide) or 5 yards 45"-wide Tongaprint of your choice for backing

68" x 88" batting

CuttingFrom each 1/3 yard Tonga print:• Cut four 101⁄2" squares. From Tonga-B4587 Sand:• Cut thirty 11⁄2" x width-of-fabric (WOF) strips. Sub-cut eachstrip into four equal pieces.From Tonga-B4166 Mint:• Cut eight 21⁄2" x WOF strips for binding.

Block Construction1. Measure and mark 53⁄4" onadjacent sides of each 101⁄2"square. Connect the marks witha diagonal line and cut on theline. Repeat for opposite corner.Keep the cut corner triangles (B)with the matching center (A).(figure 1)

2. Center and sew a 11⁄2" B4587 Sand accent strip to piece A alongthe cut triangle diagonal edge. Repeat for the opposite side.Press. 3. Center and sew the matching triangle (B) to the accent strip.Repeat on the opposite corner. Press. (figure 2)

4. Using piece A edges as a reference point, trim each block to101⁄2" square. (figure 3)

Quilt Top Assembly5. Referring to the photo for the color placement and orientation,lay out six blocks across and eight rows down. (Note: You willhave extra blocks to make the table runner project shown.)6. Sew the blocks together in rows, aligning adjacent accentstrips. Press the seams of adjacent rows in alternating directions. 7. Sew the rows together, aligning adjacent accent strips. Pressseams in one direction.

Finishing8. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing and quilt as desired.

9. Stitch the binding strips together end to end using diag-onal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in halflengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to the quiltfront, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.10. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitchthe folded edge to the quilt back.
